JOB DESCRIPTION

*One position available. Qualified candidate may work in the Frederick, MD, Westminster, MD, or Dover, DE location.

*Work from home opportunity available. Qualified candidate may work from home with three days per month working in the office.

Position Description: Under the direction of the Chief Audit Executive, the Audit Manager conducts internal audits and loan reviews to determine compliance with federal regulations, policies/procedures, and sound business practices. Risk and controls will be evaluated to determine strengths and/or weaknesses in business processes and will be reported to the appropriate parties. Leads and directs audit staff.

Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to:

- Oversees verification of compliance with internal control policies/procedures and federal regulations by examining records, reports, operating practices, and existing documentation for the Association's business processes.

  • Oversees evaluation of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls/processes.
  • Assesses and considers the potential for fraud while conducting internal audit and loan review activities.
  • Oversees preparation of risk assessments for auditable areas and generates risk and control matrices (RACM). Updates audit software with risks and controls.
  • Oversees development of detailed test procedures based on risk assessments. Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems.
  • Oversees execution of test procedures. Demonstrates flexibility in prioritizing/completing tasks and communicating potential conflicts to leadership.
  • Oversees Analysis of transactions, records, reports, and existing documentation to determine the adequacy of controls and assess the effectiveness of processes and/or activities.
  • Determines whether the Association is operating in a safe and sound manner and is in compliance with federal regulations and internal policies/procedures.
  • Oversees Preparation of supporting documentation and formal reports of all audits, including recommendations for correcting unsatisfactory conditions. Creates/Verifies high quality deliverables using appropriate business and technical language.
  • Oversee engagement operations, making sure quality work is performed, within budget and on time. Able to manage multiple engagements/tasks and deadline driven.
- Demonstrates flexibility in prioritizing/completing tasks and communicating potential conflicts to leadership.
  • Reviews work of team members for quality, accuracy, and relevance. Coaches/develops people by sharing knowledge with team members and helping them attain experiences.
  • Scopes out audits and prepares planning documentation.
  • Review audit reports and provide coaching notes to staff.
  • Provides consulting advice to business for process improvements.
  • Recommends effective issue remediation plans for management.
  • Assist CAE in development of audit plan.
  • Oversee Internal Credit Review.
  • Attend Committee meetings (Operations Coordinating, Risk, BCP, etc.) to provide audit perspective and advice.
  • Provide coaching and development to staff.
  • Review and provide guidance on risk assessments.
  • Identify potential difficulties with completing assignments and providing CAE with potential solutions.
  • Assisting CAE with preparing Audit Committee documentation.
- Overseeing the accurate completion of Audit Board documentation on a timely basis.

- Provides support for audits and examinations conducted by external parties (i.e., External Auditor, AgFirst, or FCA).

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration.
  • At least one preferred certification - CIA, CPA, or CISA.
  • Generally, more than 10 years of experience in audit (internal or external prior consulting experience with a Big 4 firm, large financial institution, or large public accounting firm) and/or credit review.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Governance and Sarbanes Oxley Act's regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to create high quality deliverables using appropriate business and technical language.
  • Current and emerging auditing technologies/tools such as TeamMate, AuditBoard, Workiva, ACL, IDEA, or other data analytics/mining software.
  • COSO framework, CoBIT and/or other leading business and information technology control frameworks.
  • Use tools and techniques to extract insights from current industry or sector trends. Know how and when to use tools available for a given situation and can explain the reasons for this choice.
  • Coach and develop staff. Provide timely feedback regarding ways to work more effectively and/or more efficiently.
