SUMMARY

The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties in support of a program located in Colorado Springs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs a variety of warehousing duties in accordance with applicable standards and procedures (i.e., inventory and material handling, shipping and receiving, records handling, DRMO turn-ins, equipment and office location moves, etc.).

Operates, manages and maintains all established warehouse / storage areas and temporary locations.

Works closely with Warehouse Supervisor and customer facility managers to ensure compliance with customer and contractual agreements.

Staffs the Remove Delivery Facility to include loading and unloading of trucks.

Accepts deliveries, and obtains / maintains copies of all documentation while staying vigilant to protect physical security.

Inventory, staging, packing, storage and shipping of electronic equipment and related material

Enforcing and complying with requirements for handling hazardous material commonly used in installations (e.g., paint, cleaning solvents, lithium batteries, other).

Assists NIWC PAC in managing, tracking, and maintaining supplies in a warehouse space in support of installation tasks. Supply and Warehouse Management support shall include:

  • Inventory control, creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Warehouse planning
  • Ability to practice and promote required safety standards
  • Performing research (predominantly online) to obtain and record information on parts and materials
  • Obtaining equipment and materials at fair and reasonable prices
  • Inspecting received equipment and materials for correctness and condition
  • Preparing material for shipment and storage
  • Tracking material orders and shipments
  • Use of a computerized inventory system (GEM)
  • Complying with requirements for handling hazardous material commonly used in installations (e.g., paint, cleaning solvents, lithium batteries) •
  • Certified forklift operation and material handling equipment
  • Determining and maintaining inventory levels for commonly used materials (e.g., #10-32 x ½" screws)

Serves as an escort for services if required

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and two (2) years relevant experience in warehousing and inventory control procedures, replication equipment, and mailroom services; or equivalent combination of education/training/experience. Previous forklift experience required.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

US State issued Driver's License / Forklift License.

TS/SCI Required.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence, ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, occasionally above head. Regularly required to twist at the waist, climb and descend stairs while carrying objects. Ability to speak and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Works near moving mechanical parts. Regularly exposed to general office and general office machinery noise. May be exposed to warehouse, truck or forklift noise.
