Job Description

GPIseeks an experienced Transportation Planner to join our NJ and Philadelphia operations. As the successful candidate, you will have an interest in multimodal corridor studies, safety evaluations, bicycle, pedestrian, and multi-modal planning and design, capacity & safety analysis, traffic impact analysis, traffic modeling using Synchro / Simtraffic, Vissim, and/or Transmodeler, area-wide planning, and grant writing for transportation-related projects. The successful candidate will lead traffic and transportation planning tasks and will be responsible for tasks related to marketing and business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare transportation studies, analyses, graphics, and data compilation for transportation planning projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers to analyze transportation issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend transportation system improvements based on economic, environmental, and population demographics, modal splits, land use, traffic projections, and other data-driven metrics.
  • Utilize modeling tools to forecast impacts associated with road improvements, policy changes and/or public transport schemes.
  • Conduct research and assist in evaluating transportation projects, policies, and programs.
  • Coordinates with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, quality, and project requirements are achieved.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of transportation data, including traffic counts, travel behavior surveys, and demographic information.
  • Contribute to preparing reports, presentations, and technical documents related to transportation planning projects.
  • Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards, elected officials, agencies, and authorities.
  • Participates in public and stakeholder outreach and meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, Regional Transportation Planning, PTP Certification, or Related Experience.
  • Understanding of transportation planning principles.
  • Direct experience successfully delivering transportation planning projects, such as feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and environmental reviews.
  • A minimum of 10 years of related work experience, preferably serving clients in the New Jersey and/or the City of Philadelphia.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
  • A Master's degree in Transportation Planning or Traffic/Transportation Engineering.
  • AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners).
  • NJ Professional Planner License.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
