Job Description Summary
Skilled laboratory technicians that works with complex systems or perform highly technical mechanical or diagnostic tests in medical or scientific laboratories. Assists the laboratory manager to perform complex laboratory maintenance tasks and other laboratory projects, as assigned. Will assists senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The technician will carry out routine tasks such as preparation of media and reagents, place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day. He/she will gather data from experiments, complete data entry and analyze data in collaboration with Principal Investigators and postdoctoral researchers - with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.
Job Description
The primary functions of this position are 1) to act as lab manager and to coordinate and support the basic needs of the research group, including mouse colony maintenance, ordering lab supplies, interacting with vendors and service providers to maintain lab equipment, preparing media and solutions, and 2) to conduct directed research under supervision of the PI and other lab members. The position is in the Bashaw Lab in the Department of Neuroscience. https://www.med.upenn.edu/bashawlab/prm

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required, with 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in either Biology or Chemistry with coursework in genetics and molecular biology preferred. One year or more of lab research experience preferred.
