We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Tax Director to join the team in our National Tax office on our SALT team in a virtual capacity.

This position will support our National Tax Team, which in turn supports the firm's broader tax practice. The right candidate will have a growth mindset and look for ways to expand their knowledge within both the tax space associated with their specialized services and varying industries.

They will also be eager to collaborate on thought leadership, webinars, and seminars while remaining results focused on assisting both internal and external clients in achieving their wide-ranging business goals.

YOUR ROLE.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Coordinate with the core Tax Practice (TP), with SALT team support, on presenting and implementing consulting opportunities including state tax return reviews, audit defense/controversy, nexus studies, apportionment reviews, restructurings, merger/acquisition situations and other TP-related SALT consulting services.
• Emphasis on daily SALT tax technical reading to help derive planning ideas to be marketed to TP clients & prospects
• Maintain a running log of SALT opportunities & issues on clients where time is spent acting in a compliance review/outsourcing (act as the "eyes & ears" of the SALT group at these clients); goal is to drive consulting services to our TP clients, reduce risk and enhance quality in everything we do
• Leadership role and regular interaction with clients and engagement team members relating to SALT compliance & consulting engagements as well as proposals.
• Build our TP state tax teams - in both consulting and compliance-related engagements and opportunities and reinforce our "collaborative", can-do, quality-focused environment.

YOUR EXPERIENCE.

The successful candidate will have:

• 10 - 15+ years of public accounting experience (at least 10 years in SALT consulting and/or compliance)
• CPA, CMI, or JD required
• Working proficiency in federal & state tax compliance
• Minimum of 10 years of state tax technical research skills (i.e. BNA Bloomberg, RIA Checkpoint, CCH) - CCH Intelliconnect preferred
• Business writing skills with at least 2 - 3 years of experience writing technical memorandums and client proposals
• At least 7 years of state tax compliance and consulting experience working C corporation, S corporation, and pass through entity clients
• Prior involvement and working knowledge of state & local tax planning initiatives such as nexus studies, restructurings, apportionment reviews, and M&A.
• Solid organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task
• Excellent communication and presentation (verbal and written) skills.
