Job Summary/Basic Function:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating services and programs for student organizations.

Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Student Organizations Coordinator must:

  • Serves as the primary event planning guide and consultant for clubs.
  • Provides pre-event outreach to student organizations.
  • Consider risk management needs for student events and connect organizations to appropriate resources.
  • Serves as a conduit for student organizations to campus departments and partners during the event process. Provides follow-up after events when necessary or appropriate.
  • Manages online event registration process for clubs. Approves expenses, co-sponsorships, fundraisers, and on- and off-campus events.
  • Provides additional leadership to the programs and services that support student organizations at Boise State University.
  • Answers questions related to fundraising, spending funds, and traveling from student organization officers, members, and advisors.
35% of Time the Student Organizations Coordinator must:
  • Assists with implementation, direction, and coordination of department assessment efforts related to the student organization experience.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures related to student organizations.
  • Supports the training, development, and day to day advising to the Associated Students of Boise State University (student government) Funding Board.
  • Assists in support and coordination of department and campus-wide programs as assigned.
  • Manages budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Serves as an engaged member of the Student Involvement and Leadership Center team, attending and coordinating programs, evaluating strengths and weaknesses of departmental programs, serving on university committees and program teams.
5% of other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience in student government and/or organized student activities which could include professional word experience, graduate assistantship experience, and/or appropriate collegiate experience.
  • The ability to build rapport with a variety of students with different backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences.
  • An understanding of student development and creating an environment conductive to student success as it is described and written about in the current higher education literature.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Budgeting and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have a Master's Degree in a field that would prepare them for college student advising, event planning, and curriculum design and development. The ideal candidate will have experience in student government and/or organized student activities which could include professional work experience, graduate assistantship experience, and/or appropriate collegiate experience. They will also possess the ability to build rapport with a variety of students with different backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences multicultural competencies, be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and have the ability to work within a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment. Candidates who think creatively, display flexibility, and have positive, patient, and welcoming demeanor's are sought for this position. Salary and Benefits:
Salary range starting at $42,910.40 commensurate with experience.
