Although we are currently in the North American market, we see great opportunity to expand our markets. To support this, we are currently looking for a State Filings Analyst in our Warren, New Jersey headquarters.

You will work collaboratively with multiple departments within Everest Insurance, including but not limited to Underwriting, Product Management, Actuary and Platform Integration to provide filing guidance on form, rate, and rule filings for all lines of business meeting regulatory and state specific filing requirements.

You will serve as liaison between the organization and the state insurance departments and provide strong consultation to internal business partners.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage and execute on filing initiatives, complex bureau adoptions and coordination of system requirements to support such initiatives.
  • Review regulatory and legislative changes to determine which affect the business; communicate applicable change the business, and track efforts to comply with such legislative changes.
  • Analyze bureau circulars (ISO, AAIS, NCCI, Independent Bureaus, DOI Bulletins, etc.), determine filing and regulatory requirements and make corresponding state filings, including system implementation oversight for all applicable lines of business.
  • Coordinate with Platform Integration on all Policy Decisions bureau and proprietary updates, programming, and client specific requirements to drive completion of initiatives.
  • Proofread forms, rates, and rules to identify discrepancies to be corrected prior to submitting to state Departments of Insurance.
  • Review criticisms from previous filings (Everest and other carriers) to aid Underwriting, Product Management, and Actuarial on required supporting documentation.
  • Ability to work with Product Management and Actuary in the development of a prospective filing by offering expertise in state regulatory rules, regulations, and criticism trends. This includes providing direction and support to the Product Management and Actuary team in the preparation of the material to be filed.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on SERFF requirements to ensure compliance and expeditious approval of filings.
  • Thoroughly review criticisms received, provide links and/or attachments to referenced laws and/or statues and offer objection responses to Underwriting, Product Management and Actuary.
  • Develop and maintain strong personal contacts with state insurance department staff. Proactively contact state reviewers via e-mail, phone, or scheduled conference calls to obtain filing statuses, clarification on outstanding criticisms, and escalate filings.
  • Ability to present filing status in a clear, timely, and effective manner.
  • Ensure forms, rates, and rules are submitted for publishing on EverPedia and system support in the policy administration system immediately upon receiving approval from the state.
  • Research and present an overview of competitor form, rate, and/or rule filings for all line of business upon Underwriting or Actuarial request in an understandable manner.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of Commercial and Financial Lines insurance form, rate, and rule filing experience.
  • Expertise with SERFF (System for Electronic Rate, Rule and Form Filings) required.
  • Experience in P&C rating and/or knowledge of commercial insurance products, policy and coverages a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education and work experience.

  • Action oriented and strong work ethic.
  • Intellectual curiosity to delve into various business problems.
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe.
