Public Policy Specialist

Work Remotely from Oregon, Washington, Idaho or Utah

Primary Job Purpose

The Public Policy Specialist is responsible for policy and legislative research and analysis, data analysis, advocacy, coalition work and effective communications. Leads issue areas as assigned, by conducting policy analysis, strategy development and execution, and catalyzing of stakeholder partners.

General Functions and Outcomes

  • Conducts research and assists in preparation of policy proposals, messaging and advocacy strategies.
  • Provides timely research, analysis and written materials on timely and relevant issues.
  • Collaborates with internal subject matter experts in various departments to analyze implications of policy and legislative proposals on Cambia Health Solutions and its family of companies.
  • Coordinates with policy team, Vice President of Government Affairs and external consultants on policy research, strategy development, and helping consistently communicate strategy with internal staff.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Affordable Care Act provisions, public health insurance programs and commercial insurance programs at state and national levels.
  • Create and monitor project work plans to ensure that tasks are identified, executed and timelines are met.

Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of the state or federal legislative and political process.
  • Ability to research, develop and evaluate legislative and regulatory proposals.
  • Provides timely research, analysis and written materials on relevant issues.
  • Proven ability to coordinate activities with stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and public speaking.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and activities and respond to shifting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other software.

Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above

Public Policy Specialist would have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Political Science, Communications, Public Policy or related field and 5 years of experience regulatory affairs, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
  • Travel throughout the region as required.

The base pay annual salary range for this job is $76,000.00 to $123,500.00
