Staff Accountant I - Fiduciary Accounting

We will count on you to:

  • Be a key point of contact dedicated to working with internal and external customers on client insured accounts.
  • Be highly proficient in managing client and carrier account data across multiple system platforms.
  • Prepare and analyze various accounting reports to provide to client team members, insurance carriers, operation executives, controllership leaders, Marsh inter-company contacts, and auditors.
  • Provide strong customer service focus, project contributor, and highly successful execution of team tasks.
  • Have excellent communication skills - collaborating with internal and external colleagues and partnering with various team members on processes and systems.
  • Prepare journal entries, money moves, payments, interpret client billing/invoicing needs, administrative system accounting reports and/or consolidated statements
  • Analyze, update with highest degree of accuracy, and maintain the systems which impact the general ledger accounts and/or client insured records
  • Prepare and analyze various accounting reports including variances to client and carrier payments/credits, may coordinate revenue and expense accruals; ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close
  • Request payments for carriers and third parties. Interact with high degree of professionalism in both verbal and written communications with wholesalers and carriers. Findings may be presented to senior management, partners, carriers, or clients.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies, procedures, and process improvements for general accounting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX procedures, SSAE16 procedures, tax regulations, local GAAP and US GAAP and local statutory regulations (as applicable) regarding financial matters

What you need to have:

  • Associate's degree, preferably in Business or Accounting
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • Analytical and problem-solving mind-set
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline
  • Prior experience working within the insurance industry
