A DAY IN THE LIFE

The District Manager position supervises all operational and safety aspects of the office specific stack programs. Train, mentor, manage and develop Project Managers, as needed, to support the growth plans of the Company.

Assist in ensuring the timely writing, editing, and review of Montrose documents, including but not limited to memorandums, notifications, test protocols, reports, website content, company literature and SOPs. Utilize company resources, such as software and CRM, to help make project managers more efficient and enhance their skills. Also included are air permit and regulations interpretation, client contact management, test planning, lab report analysis and technical data consulting.

Ensure overall client satisfaction by helping our clients improve operational efficiencies, enhance their environmental image, and avoid penalties.

The following list of duties are responsibilities of the District Manager.
  • Lead by example and be engaged in the safety culture
  • Key technical resource to analyze, interpret, and serve as subject matter expert with respect to air permits and regulations
  • The DM trains PMs to ensure project profit and equipment recovery targets are budgeted into every project. The DM can work with the RVP and PMs on strategic bid targets and initiatives.
  • Ensure that PMs are instructed and trained to prepare test protocols, quality assurance documents, and MAQS Site Specific Safety Plan documents required for every project.
  • Act as liaison between clients, personnel, government agency representatives, and laboratory personnel for testing projects requiring interaction above the CPM level.
  • Participate or lead in the protocol development, methodology, and safety requirement updates and implementation initiatives for MAQS.
  • Coordinate the timely implementation process so all MAQS policy updates, standards and procedures become the new SOP for the office. Assist in creating SOPs, when required.
  • Maintain excellent office relationships through effective communication and assistance in the training and development of employees.
  • Monitor progress and mentor your direct reports.
  • Provide CPM training to enhance their ability to plan, manage, and execute client projects, from inception to completion including: Assessing client goals, regulatory requirements, and relevant data to craft technical proposals, test plans, and technical reports Overseeing budgeting and managing the bottom line on client projects Determining, overseeing, coordinating and adjusting project timelines Allocating and directing resources to ensure satisfaction of project goals, timelines, and technical requirements Managing client expectations
  • Assist in scheduling and resource allocation decisions when required.
  • Ensure the office team is staffed appropriately for all tasks and lead, train and mentor staff for their job duties. Work with the RVP to set the yearly hiring expectations.
  • Review and ensure procedural compliance of the expense reports and timesheets for your direct reports.
  • Manage, perform and complete documentation for your direct reports performance reviews,
  • Ensure compliance of all required rules and regulations
  • Ensure the project teams follows all required quality programs written in site and regional quality plans
  • Ensure data and or reports are on time and structured to meet end use per client requests
  • Manage logistics of the office resources by organizing resources with the logistics manager and RVP
  • Participate in planning field mentoring and skill set training for career development, safety and maintaining required certifications
  • Identify quality assurance issues and/or identify solutions to quality assurance issues
  • Perform any other duties assigned by client or manager(s)
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High School diploma or degree in related field
  • Advanced stack testing knowledge and QI credentials
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience conducting and managing source test projects, unless otherwise accepted by the RVP
  • Proficient in communicating at all levels of the organization
  • Experience managing client relationships and overseeing client projects, including budgeting and managing project costs
  • Possess good organizational and scheduling skills and have ability to prioritize
  • Extensive knowledge in applicable Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Proficient knowledge with Google and Microsoft office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with Workday
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to train and teach EPA and local regulatory stack test methods
  • Valid Driver's License is required
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) is preferred
  • State/Region applicable Safety Council Training is beneficial
  • Refinery Safety Overview (RSO) training is beneficial
  • First Aid and CPR Certified is beneficial
  • Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening
  • Must be able to successfully pass a urine, alcohol, and hair drug test
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights
  • Ability to pass an OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Evaluation, and don respiratory equipment
  • Ability/willingness to travel locally and overnight. Jobs may be out of town and durations can vary from a day to several weeks.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills, including a demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline teams and motivate others
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Able to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities (i.e., self-starter, self-motivated)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think and act strategically and proactively
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, and resiliency to operate in a dynamic work environment
  • Conduct and support client (internal and external) engagement activities to strengthen our relationships with our clients and increase our understanding of their needs.
  • Must have the ability to lift 20-50 pounds using Company provided equipment
