Job Description:

Client is seeking a technically skilled database administrator who will hold position of great responsibility. The Database Administrator will join existing team of DBAs responsible to create and maintain 100+ database servers supporting critical applications on behalf of the Department of Revenue. The databases primarily use Oracle DB technology, with the goal to expand and migrate to alternate cloud-native database technologies over the next couple of years. Being both an administrative and technical role, the database administrator should display both sound technical skills and administrative aptitude. Should have extensive knowledge of the databases under your administration, be the first respondent to database problems that arise, and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.

Job responsibilities:

•Install and upgrade Oracle GRID and RDBMS software

•Create and administer application databases (both standalone and clustered)

•Coach and Mentor existing DBAs

Requirements:

•5+ years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture using Oracle DB technology

•2-3 years of experience with migrating databases from Oracle to alternate database technologies

•2-3 years of experience with database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL Server express, one DB, MongoDB)

•Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, ANSI SQL, Oracle Database, and/or PostgreSQL

•Oracle Certified Professional is a plus

•Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field

Qualifications/Skills:

•Expertise in Oracle tools such as:

•OEM and data masking tools

•ODI

•Oracle Dataguard

•Oracle Diagnostics tools

•Extensive experience patching Oracle databases

•Strong command of SQL server tools

•Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards

•Expertise with installing and maintaining databases on both Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments

•Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling

•PowerShell and Unix shell scripting

Database maintenance including:

•Managing database backup/recovery schedule and automation

•Performance monitoring and tuning of SQL queries

•Apply security patches

•Apply cumulative updates and version upgrades
