Primary function of position:
The Senior Employee Relations Specialist will be a critical member of the global employment law and employee relations team based in either SVL or ATL. This role will provide employee relations and performance management expertise, as well as case management and consultation within an expanding, centralized and influential Employee Relations (ER) center of expertise for the Company.
The position will focus on the following essential job functions:
- Directly investigate (or consult or partner on investigations, as appropriate) and resolve employee relations concerns.
- Manage employee relations matters, including escalated complaints at differing organizational levels as needed globally.
- Develop and apply best practices and processes resulting in fair and consistent treatment and approach across company.
- Handle matters that range in complexity from daily advice and counsel to highly complex, multi-party investigations, high-risk or sensitive employee relations situations.
- Manage administration of compliance employee hotline, including end-to-end case management from intake to close, reporting, working with vendor on tool maintenance and user requirements, and support tool upgrade and transfer processes, as required.
This position will collaborate and partner with management, Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP’s) and employees to provide guidance and consultation including, but not limited to, conflict resolution, performance management, coaching/counseling, corrective action, and policy interpretation. This position will support consistent application of Intuitive values, policies and compliance requirements. This position will play a key role in day-to-day risk management, as well as leverage data analytics to identify trends and recommend interventions. This position will also support the development, review and documentation of procedures intended to enhance and streamline processes and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory or company requirements.
Job Description:
• Conduct timely, objective and thorough HR investigations using Intuitive methodology and processes, including, but not limited to unfair business practices, hostile work environment claims, discrimination etc. and respond, and resolve reported employee relations concerns (e.g. via the business and/or employee reporting line). Utilize best practice investigative skills, ensure proper documentation and prepares summary investigative reports, and will recommend appropriate remedial action.
• Investigate and assist with responses to legal employment claims, including government agency charges and, prepares investigation summaries and coordinates investigation activities.
• May serve as facilitator and apply interventions to resolve risk employee disagreements, conflicts, or misunderstandings if needed.
• Collaborate, partner with and advise HRBPs and leadership on investigation strategy, process, and corrective action and performance counseling, policy violation and conduct related cases including disciplinary recommendations and associated documentation.
• Collaborate with HRBP’s on developing and reviewing performance management processes for involuntary separations, demotions, or transfers requiring strategic risk management solutions, and discipline methods where applicable, while applying Intuitive Culture and values.
• Provide recommendations, guidance and resolution to all levels of management regarding employee relations matters; coach and advise managers on best practices, Human Resources policy and processes to ensure fair and consistent application.
• Create and facilitate formal and informal training related to employee relations matters including performance counseling, employment law, equal opportunity and compliance initiatives.
• Proactively identify and analyze data to identify ER trends and patterns that will assist leadership with creating and maintaining a unique and compelling employee- focused culture, to maximize employee retention and minimize legal exposure.
• Identify and recommend current and future Human Resources policies that respond to and mitigate negative trends and best meet the organization’s strategic needs.
• Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local laws to employee relations matters and partner regularly with internal and external legal counsel.
• Support and lead employment related compliance initiatives to remedy gaps in process and procedure.
• Manage and maintain employee compliance hotline including supporting reported concerns end- to-end ensuring appropriate investigation or inquiry process, and routine reporting.
Skill/Job Requirements:
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (preferred); 10+ years HR experience of which 5+ years direct experience focusing on handling Employee Relations issues of all levels of complexity. Experience in a global technical company is a plus.
• Must have working knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, employment law and regulations. Experience in International geographies a plus.
• Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills; must display a balanced, objective approach and sound judgment when recommending a course of action or handling an investigation.
• Ability to listen and provide an independent point of view on people and issues while having the courage and sensitivity to deliver tough messages to leaders and employees professionally and compassionately. Effective influencing and communication skills when recommending and implementing solutions with business partners.
• Proven ability to partner with leaders and colleagues at all levels and in diverse geographies to provide effective and strategic employee relations counsel.
• Must have ability to work independently and collaboratively; prioritize and complete tasks while working under a deadline in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to receive and implement leadership job and performance related direction and feedback.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a disciplined approach to case management and administration.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
