Job Description Summary:
As the consummate customer champion, driving excellence in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment, the Sr. Director Product Management, Developer Platform Experience leads the team that is making PayPal the number one destination for developers to work, industry-wide.

This person owns the vision, product strategy & success of the platforms that enables internal PayPal developers to maximize their productivity, innovation, and customer value delivery. There are over 1,000 product delivery teams in PayPal. This is a strategic role accountable for ensuring every team has the tools and support they need to stay in flow and deliver products globally to compete and win the $5 Trillian dollar FinTech market.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned and proven Product leader with experience & knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, and large-scale cloud operations. A deep understanding of the developer mindset is a must along with thorough knowledge of new and existing developer technologies.

This person will build and manage a world-class product organization that works closely with internal customers and stakeholders to define the roadmap that helps PayPal development teams maintain their lead in the industry. They will partner with Program Management to drive implementation of programs spanning multiple teams and geographic locations. Solving business and technical challenges, dealing effectively with ambiguity, and providing support with a "get stuff done" approach is essential. The ideal candidate will constantly coach & mentor their team to reach their fullest potential.

Job Description:
Job Responsibilities
  • Owning the vision of developer experience and developer productivity at PayPal, including strongly representing the voice-of-the-customer in all situations.
  • Formulating long and short-term product strategies to ensure delivery of key performance indicators, owning the product roadmap
  • Building, leading, and developing a high-achieving product management team that spans all SDLC capabilities from planning to delivery.
  • Developing trusted, influential relationships with technology leaders, business leaders and stakeholders to drive optimized product delivery; this includes supporting and holding development / engineering resources accountable for their responsibilities associated with the products to which they're aligned.
  • Develop effective strategies to integrate PayPal acquired entities into the standard developer platform ecosystem, simplifying where possible and preserving unique value where appropriate.
  • Partner with and support mutually beneficial initiatives with security, data, architecture, and infrastructure organizations that advance strategic goals of the company.
  • Develop compelling business cases and successfully secure prioritization and funding for key initiatives supporting the developer experience.
  • Effectively communicate and sell vision and business value delivered to senior leadership and customer stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent delivery of product and program objectives; balance urgent and effective action, commitment to excellence, and taking initiative to resolve problems.
  • Providing a strong external voice for the PayPal developer experience, including enhancement of brand reputation in line with the realization of your vision.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 15 plus years of experience in product management with passion for developer experience
  • Minimum of 5 plus years as a director (senior leadership experience) at a large organization.
  • Minimum of 10 plus years working as a developer and/or in developer infrastructure, optimizing the SDLC, CI/CD process, and supporting new and emerging technologies.
  • Strong product leadership track record in high volume, large-scale, high-pressure environment; proven track record of delivering product results.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization and across multiple domains, simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner, adjusting to a variety of audiences.
  • Passion for leading and developing direct reports; providing guidance, consultation, and opportunities towards improving their professional skill set; ability to lead and influence direct reports remotely
  • Develops loyalty and commitment in others by communicating clear expectations.
  • Developing and mentoring direct reports, and setting an example in one's own behavior
  • Global mindset with ability to think about culture, language, and other aspects when putting the customer at the center of all outcomes.
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills; ability to recruit and lead a multi-layered product team across multiple locations
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage a large, diverse set of to-dos - vigorously prioritize, stay on top of multiple work streams, monitor progress, hold owners accountable
  • FinTech experience a plus.

New York City Only : The pay range for this position is as mentioned below per year, plus annual bonus. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary. All PayPal employees are shareholders in our Company, so equity is part of our total compensation plan. This role is also eligible for health insurance, stock purchase plans, retirement savings benefits, stock awards, life insurance and disability benefits, and paid time off for sick leave, parental leave, vacation and PTO. New York City Salary in USD: $246500 - $304500
