Software Engineer

Blue Cross of Idaho is looking for a Software Engineer with React experience. Partner with business and cross functional technical teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient applications built on an AWS architecture. Participate in defining, documenting, and developing software, contribute to architecture and technical design discussions, code reviews, and technical design/specifications in collaboration with the development team. Work with architects to help the organization understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads and applications to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within the enterprise. These solutions span multiple platforms and functional areas.

Successful candidates are self-motivated with a proven track record in software architecture. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to this role, and a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges is key.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience with Typescript, Node.js, React applications
  
• Team player working with UX/UI engineers and multiple development teams
  
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build tools
  
• Key member of the digital engineering development team, ensuring success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform
  
• Educate business and technology partners on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
  
• Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to other members of the digital engineering team and other IT teams
  
• Capture and share best-practice knowledge with solutions architects
  
• Author or otherwise contribute to AWS documentation specific to supporting solutions and applications on the digital engineering team
  
• Build deep relationships with cross functional teams to enable them to be cloud advocates
  
• Act as a technical liaison between business partners, other IT teams and the digital engineering group
  

Required Education must meet one of the following requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field of study or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  
• International Degree equivalency
  
• Applicable certification(s) as defined by the leader + 2 years additional experience
  
• Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field of study + 2 years additional experience
  

Required Experience: 4/+ years software engineering experience, preferably in similar role, to include:

• 3+ years Solid Typescript, Node.js, React applications experience, good understanding of the React ecosystem and best practices, architect mindset
  
• 2+ years of experience on agile development team (i.e., responsible for reviewing code written by others, setting dev standards, etc.)
  
• 2+ years of design, implementation in applications
  
• 2+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, systems engineering)
  
• Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
  
• Experience in Single Page Application architecture
  
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy solutions to the cloud
  
• Familiarity with common enterprise services (Directory Services, Information Assurance, Virtual Desktop, etc.), products (i.e., SQL) and frameworks, Jenkins, CI / CD
  
• Familiarity with C# and AWS
  
• 2+ years API experience working with REST, SOAP
  
• Communicating effectively across internal and external organizations; strong written communication skills
  
• Adaptable to new technologies and learns quickly
