Job Description

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  • Reading meters using reading equipment and manual reads as needed
  • Ability to learn meter reading equipment
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use hand tools
  • Investigate high readings and leaks on service
  • Change out water meters and meter reading equipment.
  • Reopen accounts with the remote meters and box and wire.
  • Read/Replace vault meters as directed.
  • Investigate on complaints stemming from poor flows (flow tests)
  • Set meters on new accounts (initial service)
  • Go out on shut offs
  • Take and execute verbal (radio, telephone or direct) and written orders
  • Make concise reports, completely understandable, for all through whose hands such would be cleared ● Set and repair meter reading equipment and wiring
  • Bench test meters for accuracy

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Physically capable of performing manual labor

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
