The Department of Orthopedics has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Senior Financial Coordinator position.

Nature of Work:

The Senior Financial Coordinator is responsible for understanding the complexities, systems, and funds flow of clinical activities between the University of Colorado (CU MEDICINE), Children's Hospital Colorado, and UC Health, in support of the Director of Finance and Administration and the Department of Orthopedics, performing a variety of business and financial related tasks and analysis.

Supervision Received:

Reports to Finance Lead, Jerome DeFelice.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Examples of Work Performed:
  • Provide financial management support to the Director of Finance and Administration and the Orthopedics department.
  • Track funds flow, monitor and ensure all the hospital support (University of Colorado Hospital and Children's Colorado Hospital) is allocated to each provider according to their agreement.
  • Prepare budgets, track and monitor expenditures, prepare and analyze monthly reports, including annual departmental events and clinical revenue variance reports.
  • Independently manage clinical contract billing and reconciliation through CU Medicine.
  • Monitor/review all revenue and expense from P&Ls that are generated by CU Medicine. Provide analysis to department leadership.
  • Coordinate and manage Professional Service Agreements with hospital partners.
  • Support team members to ensure appropriate timing of projects.
  • Work directly with providers to summarize and communicate financial data.
  • Assist with the compensation model calculation.
  • Serve as initial approver of department purchases, travel, and CU Medicine payment vouchers.
  • Design and manage department databases as requested/needed.
  • Support, organize, and/or initiate all general support activities of the Department to ensure cost effectiveness, efficiency, and operational flow.
  • Prepare various financial and operational reports (monthly and ad hoc).
  • Assist with special projects and assignments as assigned by the Director.
  • Serve as back-up to other office administrative support personnel.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in a finance or accounting role.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in clinical department in Health & Sciences
  • Experience with funding complexities associated with multiple institutions.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and follow through.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.
  • Ability to manage funds effectively, from a variety of sources.
  • Moderate to advanced skill with Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Ability to establish work priorities and provide follow through, to insure completion of activities.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $47,919 to $60,953.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
