The Global Nonwovens Senior Engineer - Bonding is a functional subject matter expert responsible for leading, developing, and executing strategic improvement plans across GNW Manufacturing sites for bonding technologies and processes to drive improvement in OEE and overall Cost of Manufacture. This role will collaborate closely with GNW mill operations resources to apply and execute process solutions and activities that progress the overall strategic improvement plans. They will be accountable to Move Fast by providing subject matter expertise, problem solving and process solutions to issues within GNW manufacturing as they arise. They are also accountable for Growing Our People through the documentation, training, and implementation of Best Practices within bonding processes and technologies including utilization of P2030 global practices. This individual will provide overall ownership of bonding processes utilized across GNW Manufacturing.
This role is expected to provide project leadership, coordination, and direction for management of specific initiatives and activities in the 1-3 year business horizon to ensure delivery of safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations for the business. They will work with local site teams to ensure execution of projects with excellence.
ORGANIZATION:
People responsibility -Expected to provide subject matter leadership, documentation & training development, coaching, and mentoring to team members on an on-going basis.
Key Customer relationships - Strong cross-functional collaboration with Mill Operations, Global Supply Chain, LCM, R&E, Finance, and EHS&S. Stakeholder management with senior management across GNW, GSC and Business Units.
Responsibilities in this role include providing subject matter expertise, strategic development, coordination, and execution of Bonding improvement plans that transform the operating performance of the GNW mills leading to breakthrough and sustained results in OEE, cost, quality, and overall value to the businesses we serve.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, Mechanical Engineering preferred. Other engineering disciplines accepted with extensive work experience in Mechanical field.
- Generally, 5+ years of experience in increasingly broader technical or operational roles with demonstrated track record of achievement and growth with preferred experience in Nonwovens manufacturing. - Experience with thermal bonding technologies a plus.
- Experience working on mechanical systems in the some/all following areas: thermal systems, heat transfer, drivetrain, vibration, fluid dynamics
- Experience working closely with machine shops/machining vendors, roll grinding vendors a plus
- Consistent track record of delivering results while creating/maintaining a constructive work environment.
- Must be able to provide overall ownership and leadership of strategy across the sector.
- Ability to transform proof of concept into scalable solutions.
- Ability to work with and manage third party vendor relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
