Job Description

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil/Drainage Engineer for their Babylon or Manhattan, NY offices. The key components of this position consist of coordination with the various discipline areas, including scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout, along with being accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to the discipline field.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of complex design activities for design/delivery; plan review, QC, technical specifications, compliance with the contract scope of services
  • Investigate watersheds/drainage areas, and perform hydrologic and hydraulic computations required to design and analyze complex drainage systems and stormwater management basins
  • Contribute to the preparation/modification of reports, construction plans, and designs for projects
  • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements, and assist in the preparation of project quantity/cost estimates
  • Oversee the accuracy of the work of the project team
  • Assist with Project Management duties and mentor the team to achieve the overall project objectives
  • Provide senior-level technical expertise to clients on project aspects within the discipline
Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering (or related field)
  • 10+ years of experience Investigating watersheds/drainage areas and performing hydrologic and hydraulic computations required to design and analyze complex drainage systems and stormwater management basins
  • Familiarity in the design of NY/NJ Stormwater BMPs is preferred
  • Experience with NYSDOT and NYCDDC is a plus
  • Experience with Civil roadway/streetscape projects in NYC five boroughs a plus
  • Working knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic software such as HydroCAD, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary or similar software is preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and direction given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
