GHD has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Air Quality Engineer/Compliance Manager to be based from our Baton Rouge, LA office.

Working with the Air Quality and Multi-media compliance team this position plays a key technical and managerial role.

  • This position is designed to provide an opportunity to elevate your career by getting the opportunity to lead complex projects and direct a strong team of compliance specialists.
  • You will be able to demonstrate your local knowledge and an opportunity to provide technical solutions as a subject matter expert.
  • We are seeking self-motivated and active networkers who value building credible relationships with clients and the community. You'll need to be flexible in your approach to challenges, and have a strong ability to think laterally in delivering technical solutions.
  • Preparation of proposals and bids for projects and client engagement
  • Manage multiple air quality projects spanning a variety of disciplines including: air quality permitting, dispersion modeling, emissions reporting, regulatory compliance, audits, and more.
  • Communicate complex regulatory issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams
  • Support air quality compliance management in multiple industries, including: chemical/petro-chem, refining, electrical utility, petroleum refining, and manufacturing.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff in technical and interpersonal matters.
What you will bring to the team
  • Proven experience in delivering air quality projects and deep understanding of industry standards; if you have a background in air compliance permitting requirements this could be a career enhancing move. Multi-media compliance is a plus.
  • Knowledge of air quality rules, regulations and agency structure in Louisiana and surrounding states.
  • Experience with initial applications, renewals and revisions for variety of permitting mechanisms, including, but not limited to: Title V, NSR, NNSR, PSD, GHG, Standard Permit, and Permits by Rule.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other technical professionals, clients, and regulatory officials in person and in writing.
  • Capable of leading and directing the work of teams while maintaining budgets and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • Technical problem solving for air quality and multi-media compliance challenges
  • Working on air permitting projects including new source review, PSD analysis and Title V permits and modifications
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study
  • 7-10 years of air quality permitting, compliance; consulting experience preferred.
