Job Description Summary

Assist with the management of the plant Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) programs to ensure operations minimize the impact upon the environment and a safe and accident-free work environment. Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in adopting work practices that work toward zero injuries and environmental incidents. Analyze accident and environmental data to identify trends and incident types identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Implements management systems to eliminate environmental incidents.

Job Description

The purpose of the Team Leader Safety is to provide support to the Lamb Weston Environmental, Health and Safety organization within the Warden Lamb Weston facility. This position will report to the Safety Manager and is responsible for the following:

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides technical support in the identification, evaluation, and control of occupational safety and health hazards.
  • Develops and assists management in the effective implementation and compliance of the Safety & Health programs and procedures.
  • Performs employee exposure monitoring, ergonomic assessments, and chemical procurement assessments.
  • Maintains and calibrates industrial hygiene equipment.
  • Assist management in the performance of work site Safety and Health inspections, correcting unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Is a resource to the supervisors and employees so everyone goes home injury free.
  • Supports and oversees the Safety Committee, providing guidance to ensure work streams and discussions are supporting the committee's goal and core values.
  • Develops EHS Alerts for distribution throughout the Lamb Weston platform.
  • Analyzes incident data to determine trends, focus areas, and corrective actions needed.
  • Trains employees on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develops and monitors emergency action plans.
  • Investigates incidents and prepares incident reports.
  • Identifies potential causes for incidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent incidents and illness.
  • Assists management to prepare safety and health budget.
  • Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Work with Line Structure Teams to assess hazards and implement plans to mitigate risk of hazards.

  • The ideal candidate will be able to have flexibility in their schedule and work occasionally on an off shift (swing or graveyard shifts as well as weekends).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position is physically active throughout their day spending much of their time on the production floor, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and communicating with team.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate experience in a variety of computer programs such as: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • A self-motivated individual that is able to multi-task and lead others
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $59,530.00 - $89,310.00
