Responsibilities A full-time research technician role is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaobing Zhang at Florida State University Department of Psychology and Program in Neuroscience. The goal of our lab is to understand the neurobiology of food intake and eating disorders. The tools that we use for our research include optogenetics, chemogenetics, in vivo fiber photometry, electrophysiology, and immunohistochemistry. Currently, we are seeking a candidate who is interested in studying neural circuits for feeding motivation and food intake using operant chambers and food intake measurement.Specific Responsibilities:

Maintains mouse colony including setting up breeding pairs, weaning and genotyping.Carries out mouse stereotactic surgery and behavioral experiment.Performs anatomical experiments including mouse perfusion and tissue fixation. Analyzes and reports data to the principle investigator.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related scientific discipline is required. Good organizational skills and familiarity with computers/software are required.Previous experience in mouse handling and behaviors are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Skills in genotyping, immunocytochemistry, mouse surgery and behavior are preferred.

Anticipated Salary Range

This position will pay a minimum of $15.00 per hour. If skills and experience warrant, a higher hourly rate can be negotiated.

Pay Plan

This is an OPS/temporary Job.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
