Research Program Assistant II
We are seeking a Research Program Assistant II (RPA II). Under general supervision the position supports departmental research programs and/or clinical trials with study data collection and organization through the process of recruiting and coordinating activities for a research study. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to: patient recruitment/ interviews, data collection, data entry, organizing collected information; and records management.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Study Visits (40%)

  • Ensure that research charts are prepared on a timely manner, organized and maintained. Make appointment reminder calls/emails to the study patients.
  • Complete feeding plans for baseline visits with patients.
  • Communicate vehicle for peanut introduction with nutrition.
  • Enter and update appointment information in CRMS, PCRU and EPIC.


Data Management (35%)
  • Design RedCap instruments for data entry.
  • Enter visit data for study patients in RedCap on a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Recruitment (10%)
  • Review Dermatology and Pediatric Allergy schedules to find potential eligible patients to be recruited. Post study flyers throughout campus.
  • Participate in the prescreening process by phone or in clinic.


Skin Prick Testing (10%)
  • Administer skin prick testing and document in the research chart.


Documentation Management (5%)

  • Maintain allergen log with expiration dates and lot numbers.
  • Maintain peanut administration logs and supporting documentation.
  • Submit check requisitions for study visits.
  • Update Access patient database with new information in regards to follow-up calls or any pertinent information.
  • Obtain signatures on essential documents for research charts and regulatory binders.


Physical Requirements
  • Sitting in a seated position for extended periods of time
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm, for example, using a keyboard.





Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Two years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
