Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of a high performing and collaborative R&D team.
  • Plan and conduct experiments to test, prove, or modify conceptual designs of new or enhanced existing hydraulic products.
  • Use experimental methods to diagnose dynamic challenges in new or to enhance existing hydraulic products and systems.
  • Perform acoustic analysis of hydraulic systems, or system hydraulic analysis as a foundation for acoustic investigations.
  • Utilize sound engineering theory to identify data trends and indicators to isolate and diagnose structural vibratory responses.
  • Provide design recommendations based on acoustic and/or hydraulics system analysis and test data.
  • Research, develop, and manage structureborne and fluidborne vibrations in hydraulic products, focused on identification and motion control methods to optimize dynamic responses.
  • Define complex problems in a limited scope for investigation, drawing valid conclusions based on data and facts, and communicate results in clear simple terms to the R&D team and management.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team on new concepts, designs, and test plans with proper application of engineering, hydraulics, and acoustic principles.
  • Extend experimental lessons learned to develop design rules and best practices for design and production use.
  • Perform engineering analysis (hydraulic, acoustic, fluid theory, stress, FEA, etc.) for new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in Physics, Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Acoustics or Hydraulics Systems/dynamics Engineering, OR actively pursuing a graduate level degree in these Engineering fields and focus – with completion of all relevant degree coursework. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and substantial work or research experience with Acoustics or Hydraulics will be considered.
  • Aptitude for hands on work focused on experimental methods in diagnosing hydraulic systems.
  • Educational background in mechanical dynamics including acoustics, vibration, or control theory.
  • Working knowledge of digital signal processing algorithms for random data, spectral correlations, and/or digital filters.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working experience in dynamics of hydraulic systems.
  • Background in dynamics concepts such as Impedance/mobility modeling concepts or vibration isolators.
  • Experience in MATLAB and hydraulic system modeling using SIMULINK.
  • A theoretical understanding of wave theory including flexural waves and waveguides.
  • Experience with System Identification.
  • Practical experience using Modal Analysis; either experimental or simulated.
  • Experience with or knowledge of numerical methods applicable to fluid flow.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Experience with programming language such as Fortran, C/C++, and/or Python.
  • Hands-on, mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects.
ITAR Requirement:Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Citizen.

Quality Requirement:Employees will participate in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 requirements.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process production and prototype parts.
