Research Data Analyst
The Center for Equity in Aging's research team seeks a highly motivated and talented individual to join our research team. The Research Data Analyst will work with a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team of investigators spanning the fields of epidemiology, nursing, biostatistics, mental health, and gerontological sciences. Under the supervision of the principal investigator, this position will be expected to independently carry out data analyses and work effectively with team members to achieve the overall goals of the project. The ideal candidate should enjoy a fast-paced, team-centered approach to discovery.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with scientists and core staff in drafting of statistical design, methods and analysis sections for protocols, reports, scientific papers, and grant proposals
  • Carry out data analyses for clinical trials and large epidemiological and longitudinal studies using standard software packages (e.g., STATA, SPSS, SAS, R, etc.)
  • Work with a variety of data including survey and open-source data.
  • Interpret and translate the results of statistical analyses.
  • Design and prepare tables and figures to illustrate analytic findings.
  • Discuss with colleagues, investigators, and supervisor the need for any additional analyses and/or special methodological needs.
  • Clearly summarize and present findings at team meetings.
  • Document work and data analyses, particularly through organized digital records of data set sources, file locations, and statistical and bioinformatics code.
  • Keep abreast of technical and academic resources related to the methodology of statistical analyses.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must be organized, pay attention to detail, and be able to effectively communicate with team members.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience working with diverse research teams.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, economics or related discipline.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior work experience in academic or research setting in health care.
  • 5 years of research and data management, programming, and analytical experience.
  • Experience managing and analyzing data from large epidemiological and longitudinal datasets.

Starting Salary Range: $46,560-$64,100-$81,650 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
