Position Summary

The long-term goal is to get a holistic understanding of algal metabolism in response to adverse environmental conditions which will aid in improving photosynthetic performance in a changing world. In the process, we will exploit the fast growing and easily modifiable eukaryotic alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii for the characterization of (epi)genetic regulation in a photosynthetic eukaryote, ideally with single cell resolution.

This position provides the unique opportunity to engage in the scientific and scholarly advancement at an internationally renowned research institution. By taking charge of independent research questions, and by collaborating with and supervising other researchers, the candidate will contribute meaningfully to the laboratory's and research community's accomplishment and collaborative culture. The candidate will design and perform research, apply for independent funding, acquire and analyze data, prepare results for publication and contribute to the general laboratory maintenance and organization. In the process, the candidate will work with other academic and technical staff, and train undergraduate and graduate students.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Plant Biology, or related field.

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in Plant Biology or a related field and previous experience generating and analyzing next generation sequencing data or scRNA sequencing data and is enthusiastic about working in a collaborative research environment.

Desired Qualifications

Previous research involving photosynthetic organisms and algal research techniques is desired, as well as a basic understanding of photosynthetic eukaryotes.
