Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Faculty Practice Plan Manager (FPPM), the Reimbursement Analyst II provides reimbursement analysis for the purpose of reducing rejections, improving overall revenue and cash performance with managed care payers. Optimize payer reimbursement and efficient A/R management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitates the electronic orders process by creating tasks, obtains and submits information to various organizations
  • Obtains all necessary prior authorizations for services and orders.
  • Ensures patient's benefits are covered for services being provided and ordered.
  • Acts as a liaison between Psychiatry department and patients for scheduling and billing issues related to insurance.
  • Complies with MFA policies on managing MFA Business Office correspondence (account actions forms, back outs, information request(s), also in references claims rejections and low reimbursement. Interacts closely with MFA Business Office staff to ensure accurate billing and to facilitate timely collection.
  • Analyzes end-of-month reports to provide information on the status of the department charges, allowances, bad debt and overall revenue; prepares appropriate billing reports and various summaries of billing activity.
  • Acts as liaison with third party carrier professionals regarding reimbursement issues.
  • Assists physicians, staff and the MFA Business Office in the development of mechanisms to challenge claim rejections or insufficient payments.
  • Review coding structure to ensure conformity with CPT
  • Interacts with Managed care office regarding provider information.
  • Answer department's telephone, inquires, get messages to appropriate faculty staff member.
  • Performs other work-related duties as requested.
  • Responsible for all the above but not limited to.
Qualifications

Education
  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of related healthcare experience is necessary.
