Compensation: $75,225 - $88,500

Primary Purpose:

The Regional Finance Manager oversees the financial operations of CWS Southwest at the regional level.This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The position also communicates budget and spending information with program staff, while addressing tight deadlines and engaging in a multitude of accounting activities including financial reporting, reimbursements, audit preparation and the support of budget activities. The position will work in collaboration with regional leadership and will coordinate closely with CWS’s Global Finance on program finance and grant spending, budgeting, budget strategy and forecasting. The position will eventually oversee finance staff in the local offices, in the near future.

Essential Duties:

  • Forecast program revenue and expenditures monthly and quarterly for all the Southwest Region’s programs.
  • Review invoices and reimbursements and for all programs as well as maintaining ongoing relation with sub-contractors of CWS Southwest Region as it pertains to finance.
  • Collaborate closely and communicate with the CWS Global Finance Office on all financial matters affecting the operations of the CWS Southwest Region.
  • Review, monitor and analyze the comparative actual vs. budget report on a monthly and quarterly basis per program in the Southwest region offices.
  • Regularly meet with the office directors, regional director, and program teams to review budgets and spending.
  • Participate actively in monthly meetings with US Programs regional finance staff and Global Program Finance leadership.
  • Collaborate with Global Finance assigned focal point in monthly one-on-one meetings to address proactively regional-specific finance questions and issues.
  • Maintain appropriate management and controls for utilization of cash and other funds used in the operation of the CWS Southwest offices.
  • Keeps accounting sheets and finance data up to date with income and expenditures.
  • Responsible for writing and recording all office checks.
  • Responsible for Petty Cash account, disbursement of Petty Cash, and other banking transactions.
  • Completes applicable reimbursement requests each month for review by Office Directors.
  • Work with and respond to USG and State agencies requesting information or status of reports pertaining to the finances in the CWS Southwest Offices. Maintain a tracking system to identify income and expenses.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely submission of, monthly, quarterly and year end reports. Ensure proper cash management and requirements are met.
  • Prepare and review new and existing program budgets for all programs and grants of the CWS Southwest offices. Responsible for the preparation and submissions of program budget revisions.
  • Provide direct supervision to any future finance staff and assist in the development and implementation of new office procedures to enhance the workflow.
  • Meets monthly with the Office Director/s to determine program and staff allocations for the CWS Southwest offices.
  • Oversees compilation of credit card receipts and statements, staff expense reports and service fees; ensures CWS Global Finance office in Elkhart, IN receives these items in a timely manner.
  • Oversees receipt and processing of incoming donations.
  • Represent CWS Southwest offices at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance OR alternatively, Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent work experience.

Experience: Five years’ work experience in nonprofit accounting/finance, with a strong working knowledge of nonprofit accounting and finance.

Other Skills:
  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and internet applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.

Special Requirements:
  • COVID Vaccine Required
  • Strong analytical computer skills especially with Microsoft EXCEL or similar software.
  • This position is a hybrid position which will require occasional travel to the CWS California offices
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and credit check
