JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer, Maintenance position is a technical support position with a broad range of responsibilities from facility infrastructure project management to preventative maintenance development and ownership. The ideal candidate would be able to efficiently execute projects and tasks of various complexity in support of the Garlock manufacturing operation. A successful Maintenance Engineer will collaborate with maintenance supervision, operations leaders, manufacturing engineering, maintenance skilled trades and other organization members to engineer and maintain equipment that is safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Engineer and or Project manage site wide facilities/maintenance projects which may include roofing, paving, HVAC, Environmental and or other new equipment or equipment upgrades. Detail timelines, dependencies, and budget summaries for project milestones.
  • Author Capital appropriation requests to include budgetary costs, return on investment, etc. for assigned facility projects.
  • Provide engineering level technical support, acts as a resource for skilled trades teams when dealing with complex or high-level projects and or breakdowns.
  • Evaluate controls and mechanical requirements for maintaining and improving production yields, efficiency, safety, up time, and code compliance.
  • Analyze critical equipment performance and works to improve safety and reliability of that equipment. Lead and/or participates in 360-degree reviews of critical equipment breakdowns and preventative maintenance activity.
  • Perform safety inspections and audits of facilities, maintenance equipment and procedures to identify and ensure that safety hazards/unsafe practices are promptly corrected and avoided.
  • Contribute to and actively support initiatives to meet or exceed PM, downtime, inventory, cost, scrap, supply, and tooling expense targets.
  • Champion the preventative, predictive and lubrication maintenance programs; including work order creation, procedure development and amendments, preparing for and fully utilizing down time and scheduling events.
  • Partner with Maintenance Supervisor on preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize down time.
  • Lead and/or participate on safety teams.
  • Lead and/or help coordinate safety training events.
  • Instrumental in helping to developing JSA's, work procedures, LOTO procedures and etc.
  • Create blueprints and drawings of tooling, spare parts, equipment layouts, office configurations in support of maintenance operations.
  • Assist with CMMS administration responsibilities.
  • Assist with building automation development and maintenance.
  • Champion the Change Management process for the Maintenance department as it relates to equipment reliability, serviceability, component standardization, etc.
  • Assist with long term strategic planning as related to buildings, infrastructure, equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or AAS and equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Maintenance Connection and/or similar Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • General knowledge of Focused Equipment Events, TPM and or other Maintenance related strategies.
  • Proficiency with Solid Works, AutoCAD and or similar.
  • General computer competency for Email, MS office programs and Oracle required.
  • Experience in Equipment Maintenance, Facilities/Maintenance Operations and or Reliability Engineering.
  • Knowledge of PLC's, HMI's preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Large Campus Manufacturing Environment with indoor and outdoor work requirements. While performing the duties of this job you will be occasionally exposed to moderate noise, varying light levels, temperature changes, potential for various equipment hazards moving campus vehicles, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Light to moderate physical effort (lifts/carry up to 25 pounds)
  • Frequent prolonged standing/walking.
  • Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling
  • Far Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more
  • Near Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
  • Depth Perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  • Field of Vision: ability to see peripherally.
  • Accommodation: ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
  • Color Vision: ability to distinguish and identify different colors.
