The Role

Join our team as a Director in Sustainability Consulting, where you'll be the technical lead for distributed energy resources (DER) consulting/design, including solar PV, battery energy storage, microgrids, and electric vehicle ( EV ) charging infrastructure projects. With a background in energy or electrical engineering and a passion for zero-carbon solutions and green building practices, you'll be instrumental in driving the DER and EV component s of sustainable building strategies across various sectors. This role combines technical delivery , management of junior staff, business development , and client relationship management . Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, enjoy collaborative work, and possess the drive to lead projects on a global scale. This mid-to-senior level position is based in San Francisco (CA, USA) and offers significant opportunities for growth and leadership within a dynamic, international team focused on sustainability and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • You will l ead and manage DER projects to ensure timely , on-budget completion, including overseeing sustainability requirements , facilitating design workshops, and attending key meetings .
  • Provide technical leadership in all-electric HVAC design optimization, energy modeling, and a wide range of decarbonization and distributed energy resource analysis and consulting , collaborating with architects, engineers, and building owners to support sustainable strategies .
  • Direct energy model ing efforts and advanced building analytics using industry-leading software tools , stay current on the latest building codes and industry best practices and ensure high-quality documentation and reporting .
  • Guide and mentor the energy modeling team, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing, to maintain high standards of work quality .
  • Strengthen client relationships through effective communication and project management, identify new business opportunities, and network at industry events to drive business growth .


Requirements

  • Bachelor's d egree , Master's degree preferred.
  • 4+ years' experience in any of the following: electrical engineering, DER electrical systems (specifically PV, EV, and BESS microgrids ) , all-electric and low/zero carbon building system design, with commercial and public facility power distribution systems including generator and ATS systems is preferred , experience estimating rough project costs is preferred .
  • Electrical Engineering P.E. license preferred
  • Exposure to SCADA engineering and/or integrating BESS and microgrid controls into solar PV and EV infrastructure projects is a bonus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Bluebeam, Rhino, AutoCAD, EnergyPlus , IES-VE, DOE-2, Revit , Energy ToolBase , Helioscope , and Python .


Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$100,000-$120,000annually.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the California Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful California applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byCaliforniaEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
