Responsibilities

This position will support the University of Florida-Florida State University Clinical and Translational Science Award Community Engagement Core (CEC) and the Florida State University Network for Clinical Research, Training and Community Engagement (NCRT-CE). The Community Engagement Research Manager under general direction will perform duties associated with engaging the community in a culturally proficient manner, implementing and managing research activities and projects. This individual will be responsible for delivering established goals and organizing and coordinating efforts of the Community Engagement Core while maintaining high-quality professional and privacy standards.

Participates and manages Community Engagement Core events and activities (e.g., community/neighborhood meetings and events, educational forums, conferences, etc.); completes minutes for meetings, prepares departmental and Community Engagement Core reports and deliverables. Aids in fostering collaborative partnerships with community members and organizations; develops and maintains a Florida State University Community Advisory Board (CAB); facilitates CAB meetings, other meetings with the University of Florida, Clinical and Translational Science Institutes (CTSIs). Organizes Florida State University our Community our Health Forums (at least 2 per year). Manages recruitment, relationship building, and communication with community partners and organizations. Manages community health workers and community ambassadors. Builds and maintains a network of community partners and collaborations to help ensure the success of research collaborations. Organizes and coordinates educational and community-engaged activities. Acts as liaison between community and community ambassadors, health workers, the CTSIs and Florida State University. Develops community engagement training for faculty and staff.

Oversees the Community Engagement database coordinator, who is responsible for the collection and maintenance of community partners, projects and activities across Florida State University; facilitates communication that fosters the bi-directional exchange of information with community partners; creates and maintains a calendar of community engagement core and community events; updates community engagement website and social media content.

Facilitates study design and implementation of departmental and community engagement core research studies, grant proposals, literature reviews, and dissemination of research/project findings. Assists research personnel in the implementation of research studies to ensure the successful completion of study goals. Prepares and maintains Institutional Review Board and other regulatory applications and documents in compliance with regulatory requirements. Completes continuing education regarding implicit bias, cultural humility, research procedures, processes, regulations and ethical conduct (e.g., IRB, CITI, HIPAA), and community-based participatory research. Participates in data collection and data entry, abstraction of secondary data and/or collection of data from study participants; data entry into study databases to comply with study protocols and to satisfy aims of grants and other funding.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to health and human services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to eight years in the same. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
  • Valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
  • This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR Certification or ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.

  • Knowledge of research methodology, principles, and practices in a scientific area. Experience in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Experience maintaining and improving personal and team effectiveness, and fostering change and creativity.
  • Experience meeting project deadlines.
  • Experience performing accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Experience training and supervising employees.
  • Experience utilizing problem solving skills.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and retrieving files from active or archive sources.
