Responsibilities

The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.

Position is responsible for the development, coordination, supervision and assessment of student recruitment activities in the Office of Admissions including first-generation and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged students. Directs the strategic planning, administration, assessment and implementation of recruitment activities and programs including first-generation and socioeconomically disadvantaged student populations.

Responsible for the development, coordination, management, and assessment of the University's student recruitment activities as well as enhancement programs that attract first generation and socioeconomically disadvantaged student populations. Directs the strategic planning, administration, assessment and implementation of first-year recruitment activities and community outreach programs for the Office of Admissions. Serves as an advocate to prospective students and families, by providing academic and programmatic support to programs including the High School Partners Program (HSPP), CARE Summer Bridge Program, SSTRIDE Program, and QUEST Scholars Program to enhance the communication, access, application completion, and enrollment of underrepresented populations. Implements targeted recruitment campaigns and activities to achieve program goals.

Provides leadership in the development and implementation of community outreach programs and recruitment activities for the Office of Admissions. Seeks innovative solutions to bridge the gap with prospective students and families and connect them with the financial resources available to reduce financial barriers. Partners with the CARE Program and the Office of Financial Aid staff to develop programs and activities to increase financial literacy and FAFSA completion for target populations. Assists in the development of donor relationships to increase charitable giving for the High School Partners Program.

Extensive travel to high schools and college fairs. Due to travel needs, position requires operation of a motor vehicle. Frequently conducting information sessions, reviewing and evaluating applications for admission to HSPP, SSTRIDE , QUEST, and the CARE Summer Bridge Program, making recommendations on student selection. Counsels prospective students and their family members about the educational and financial aid opportunities at the University. Frequent contact with high school counselors, principals, teachers, and officials from other colleges and universities. Occasional contact with personnel from ACT, CLT, College Board, and other outside vendors.

Participates in strategic planning, staffing decisions and program development for the Office of Admissions to ensure program goals, objectives and activities meet academic support and University standards. Develops and maintains partnerships with various stakeholders across Enrollment Management and the University to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Contributes to long-range planning and provides recommendations to the Director to increase the number of first generation and socioeconomically disadvantaged students to the University. Assists other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Office of Admissions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of experience related to academic and/or student services. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

  • Applicants must have a valid Driver's License to be eligible for position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and complimentary experience is preferred.
  • We seek energetic candidates who are detail-oriented and who work well independently as well as in a team.
  • Experience reviewing transcripts, and interpreting and applying admissions tests is preferred.
  • Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments.
  • Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Candidates with a strong sense of initiative and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently are preferred.
  • The ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment is essential.
  • Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Candidates must have previous experience working with college student populations.
  • Qualified candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience creating and delivering presentations to small and large group.
  • Applicants must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.
