As the product testing specialist, you possess a background in field research program leadership, precision AgTech experience, and project management with the need for innovation within our Strategy and Growth team. In this role you will lead a diverse, agile, and broad field research program that uses foundational knowledge of soil fertility and unique cropping systems to develop novel technologies that are aligned with strategic priorities (e.g., soil health and precision AgTech). As the incumbent you have leadership experience, management of a robust research program, and the conversion of complex science into deliverables that increase the value and purchase of Mosaic products are critical skills.

What will you do?

  • Oversite of North America Field Trial Research. Oversee implementation of field research protocols, manage product shipment, and manage CRO relationships for successful evaluation of existing and new product technologies. Responsibilities will include collecting quotes, negotiating terms, and implementing confidentiality or service agreements.
  • Coordinate field trial audits and sharing of best management practices.
  • Coaching of best management practices to international Mosaic colleagues who initiate field trial research is encouraged.
  • Part of the focus of this position will include identifying ways to enhance the efficiency of the field trial program without compromising our commitment to high quality data.
  • Lead activities associated with the precision AgTech initiative.
  • Lead regular cross-functional team meetings, develop and test key research objectives, and collaboration with select technology suppliers.
  • Serve as the AgTech Subject Matter Expert in the New Product Development team and more broadly within the Strategy and Growth business unit, facilitating technology transfer and sharing of new ideas.
  • Support the global agronomy database by collecting, organizing, and integrating data from field trial research and precision AgTech initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other NPD staff around the analysis, interpretation, and summarization of key research findings.
  • Communication and Innovative thinking - Utilize effective written, oral, and presentation skills to share key findings to commercial, strategy and growth, and Sr leadership.
  • Liaison new science to Mosaic's New Product Development Team and commercial sales team to improve product positioning and grow performance product sales volumes.
  • Identify opportunities for new research initiatives aligned with Mosaic's strategic priorities by attending research conferences and reading published research literature.
  • Creative and innovative ideas are fostered and encouraged.
  • Identify collaborative partnerships that may accelerate our field research process.

What do you need for this role?
  • A master's degree in agronomy research is required
  • Bonus if you have a doctorate or PHD
  • A minimum of 5 years of Agronomic field trial research is required; Graduate or internship experiences will be considered with a PHD in lieu of experience
  • Bonus if you have broad knowledge of crop nutrition and soil science preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, ARM, statistical software "R" and "SAS" is required
  • The incumbent needs to be very creative and highly motivated. Willing/able to travel to within Canada and the United States.
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical abilities.
  • Answer various precision AgTech related inquires within Strategy and Growth and commercial
  • Manage a diverse and deep field trial program.
  • Ability to work independently while managing several projects. Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills through various multi-media outlets. (webinars, large audiences, small groups, conference calls, etc.)
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people for various international backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to continually changing business and work environment.
  • Provide direction, guidance, challenge and inspiration to department associates as well, help develop the research skills of colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively translate data into market related information.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to adapt to a continually changing business and work environment and manage multiple priorities. Understanding of comprehensive statistic approaches as it relates to field trial research is necessary.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize research data from various sources and deliver key insights and recommendations preferred.
  • Applied experience with diverse precision ag technologies is preferred.
