Job Purpose/Scope: The Product Engineer is responsible in assuring the consistency of drafting practice and formats on the part prints issued to manufacturing, vendors and customers. The Product Engineer is responsible for developing designs and drawings for various products while maintaining and updating the design standards.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Manufacturing and sales to prepare and maintain track work related assemblies and component drawings that are used by manufacturing or given to customers. Work is done in AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • The Product Engineer is responsible for providing designs and drawings that meet customer requirements and can be manufactured.
  • Create part drawings in the appropriate format.
  • Dimension parts following approved drafting conventions.
  • Translate drawings between cad formats.
  • Maintain accurate revisions level information on all prints.
  • Follow department design standards/processes.
  • After initial training period, must be able to follow customer standards, with the help from more experienced Engineers.
  • Completes drawing assignments in an efficient & accurate manner in order to meet the need customers.
  • Create 3D models while properly constraining sketches/models.
  • Create BOM for manufacturing.
  • Set up component part numbers in Visual
  • Communicate with purchasing for purchased parts.
  • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
  • Evaluates ECR's initiated by manufacturing for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to the established standards.
  • Set up top level part numbers in Visual for sales.

  • Must be able to follow customer standards, with minimal direction and help from more experience designers.
  • Provides back up support to the Data Control Coordinator
  • Write and approve ECR'S
  • Capable of Reverse engineering parts.
  • Checks the work of other engineers for accuracy and adherence to established standards.
  • Assists in the development of drafting techniques, standards, and systems.
  • Train new employees.
  • The Engineer has the authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process, and quality system and has the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected.
