This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Procurement Specialist 2, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing complex buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials; expedites as needed and serves as liaison between vendors and users, getting prior approval for purchases in excess of established limits.
  • Resolving complex delivery, quality or other related problems with purchases and invoices.
  • Updating project plans and purchasing systems; reviewing and analyzing requisitions and supply plans for domestic and international purchases.
  • Negotiating prices, terms and quality requirements; preparing requests for quotes and assists in the development of new supply sources; evaluating market conditions.
  • Performing value analysis to identify cost improvements
  • Providing general guidance or training support.
  • Member of cross functional team(s) aiding in the resolution of problems and the transfer of new products into Manufacturing.

  • Knowledge or understanding of basic science (biology/chemistry) and familiarity with metric conversions
  • Experience in sourcing raw materials used in a biological manufacturing process
  • CPM, CPSM, CSCP or APICS Certification
  • Knowledge or understanding of basic science (biology/chemistry) and familiarity with metric conversions
  • Proven leadership skills
Required skills to have for the success of this role
  • BS / BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 3-5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience, where applicable.
  • Several years' experience working with an MRP system, preferably SAP.
  • Competent to Intermediate skill set level in the use of Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills.
  • Must be able to act as a resource to intra-organizational functions not experienced in Materials Management.
  • Must be able to assess change impacts as a result of supplier change notifications and initiate associated change control requirements.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills. Function requires day-to-day contact with multiple departments, functions and levels.
