Walmart Data Ventures operates with the agility of a nimble startup, dedicated to creating the best-in-class suite of Data Products. Walmart Luminate is the first product, which has been created to deliver actionable, customer-centric insights, empowering CPGs and Walmart merchants make data-driven decisions in a smarter, faster, and collaborative manner.

We are seeking an experienced and Principal Scientist with expertise in deep learning and Generative AI to lead our work in creating AI-powered applications. In this role, you will not only build upon the responsibilities of a hands-on data scientist but also be the driving force behind the development and integration of Generative AI-powered application-level capabilities across different product areas within Luminate. You will oversee all Generative AI applications across Data Ventures, including the customer support area. The position plays a pivotal role in mentoring and inspiring other scientists within the team. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential in this technical leadership position.

What you will do:

• Lead the development and integration of Generative AI-powered application-level capabilities, including applications within customer support and experience.
• Oversee all Generative AI projects within Data Ventures, ensuring their alignment with the company's objectives and the team's strategic direction.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering their growth and development in the field of Generative AI and data science.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and drive innovation through Generative AI solutions.
• Serve as an inspirational figure within the team, motivating and leading by example.

What you will bring:

• Ph.D. or Masters in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field with extensive experience in Generative AI.
• Strong understanding of deep learning, NLP, and generative AI technologies, with a proven track record of building and deploying advanced applications.
• Prior experience in technical leadership or senior roles, showcasing the ability to oversee and drive Generative AI initiatives.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions.
• A growth mindset and a passion for staying updated with the latest developments in AI/ML and Generative AI.
• Outstanding communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

- Stock equity incentives
