Position Overview:

The Novelis Buckhanon team is seeking a Plant Manager. The person in this role will report to the Senior Director, Specialty Finishing Operations North America. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading all manufacturing operations including rolling, annealing, and slitting of aluminum in compliance with environmental, safety standards, and Novelis Policies at specified volumes, quality and cost levels while maintaining high morale and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement. This position will empower a passionate team of 80 employees to meet safety, customer centricity, quality, operational excellence and financial goals.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all employees, contractors and guests work safely each and every day
  • Enable results for production, maintenance, quality, shipping and receiving, demonstrating a commitment to continual improvement.
  • Empower the plant production staff, mentoring others to succeed, seeking and sharing regular feedback and holding self and others accountable for results.
  • Partner with commercial team to provide the highest quality and service possible to the customer.
  • Work closely with team to develop and implement an annual plan and budget.
  • Lead a multi-year maintenance plan for the facility, including preventative maintenance and vital repairs and upgrades to equipment and capital assets.
  • Communicate essential information on plant performance, challenges and plans with employees, union leaders, customers, suppliers, local government and community leaders.
  • Make certain that all plant, equipment and facilities are used, operated and maintained efficiently and in a way that ensures effective long-term service.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with 5+ years of that time spent in supervisory leadership roles.
  • Experience leading organizations of similar scale or scope.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA preferred
  • Previous plant or large manufacturing unit management experience.
  • Experience implementing reliability engineering and lean-six sigma techniques.
  • Experience leading cultural transformations.
  • Education in business / supply chain management to complement engineering/technical degree

Location Profile

The Buckhannon facility opened in 1999 to serve the electrical conductor industry and other light-gauge applications primarily 1350 and 1100 alloy products. Since then capabilities have expanded to include the manufacture of 5052 6061 and 3003 alloys for cookware products. Products are produced for mill finish electrical conductors cookware products packaging and distribution. Buckhannon is considered a niche shop employing around 70 people and processing a wide range of products in smaller quantities for many markets and customers.
