Description:
A Food/Beverage manufacturer in the Allentown PA area is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Engineer to join our team. The Plant Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating various activities related to the development, design, construction, and modification of equipment, production lines, and facility. The primary objective of this role is to support the growth of our business by leading and supporting capital projects, analyzing systems, and implementing innovative ideas to improve our processes and performance indicators

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Provide reliability engineering expertise to support maintenance and reliability efforts, ensuring asset longevity and adherence to standards.
• Manage and own the project and equipment capital plan and budget, making final recommendations to the plant manager on the use of capital assets, equipment modifications, and process improvements.
• Lead and coordinate the plant maintenance team, fostering competence, motivation, and high performance to achieve team objectives.
• Develop, install, and manage PLC/HMI/Drives (VFD).
• Provide guidance on high/low/control voltage systems and manage electrical drawings in AutoCAD.
• Take a hands-on approach to automation and controls.
• Ensure all necessary licenses and permits (air, water, fire, etc.) are obtained and maintained.
• Prepare bid sheets and contract specifications for projects.
• Test newly installed equipment to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Develop and manage our PSM (Process Safety Management) program.
• Manage the wastewater system, liaising with local authorities to ensure compliance with discharge and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) limits.
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups, including Production, Human Resources, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Finance, to meet production targets.
• Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve machines and plant equipment for maximum efficiency.
• Oversee installation, modifications, quality control testing, operating procedures, and inspection processes, adhering to engineering principles and safety regulations.
• Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and flexibility to ensure the job is done right, including being on-call during nights and weekends as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Promote a high level of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices.
• Foster effective employee relations, providing coaching, development, and problem resolution support.
• Adhere to engineering standards for sanitation design, ensuring food safety and quality.
• Facilitate coordination between maintenance and operations in resolving process issues.
• Follow company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), safety procedures, and quality processes.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise up to 5 direct reports.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of engineering and maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or processing industries.
• Experience driving improvements through sound engineering practices and capital deployment.
• Strong knowledge and experience with utilities, including chiller systems, cooling towers, boilers, and wastewater systems.
• Aseptic/Dairy experience is a plus!

• Certified Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation.
• Tetra aseptic experience is a plus.
• Automation and controls experience.
