Location

We are located at 383 Paradise Rd, Swampscott, MA. As an OB/GYN office, our obstetricians and gynecologists provide high-quality conscientious care to our patients, including annual check-ups, pre-and postnatal care, and sophisticated gynecologic surgery. Many of our physicians are specially trained in performing minimally invasive procedures.

Our office is open Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. We are seeking per diem help on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, based on candidate availability.

General Overview

The RN Prenatal Coordinator (PNC) role is designed to provide obstetrical care and education to the patients of NSPG OB/GYN. The PNC nurse works closely with the physicians and within the RN scope to provide professional medical assessment advice and cares for the patients in an ambulatory care/office setting. The prenatal nurse provides triage services, performs administrative paperwork, coordinates and orders tests and lab services for obstetrical care and treatment. The PNC will maintain records of vital statistics, enter and organize data, and effectively respond and communicate time sensitive information to the appropriate providers. The PNC will administer injections and medications and assist the physicians as needed. The nurse may perform other related tasks as necessary to ensure high quality obstetrical care.

Responsibilities

  • Triages calls from patients seeking care and executes a timely and accurate decision regarding the patient's care. This may include giving direct advice, directing the patient to a hospital emergency facility, scheduling an appointment with a time frame consistent with the assessment and clinical presentation.
  • Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of patient. Receives patient lab results and other data, enters and organizes this data into the patient electronic medical records according to North Shore Physicians Group and/or provider protocols.
  • Communicates and interprets providers clinical information and instructions to patients; with specific direction from the provider including but not limited to instructing patients regarding medication, use of home testing or other equipments or medical supplies, communicating testing results, counsels patients on health maintenance related issues (e.g. cholesterol, control, blood pressure control, etc)
  • Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, assists with minor surgery and performs related tasks as directed.
  • Conducts specified office laboratory and other tests, such as urine dip sticks, hemoccult cards and finger stick hemoglobins.
  • Assists in the collection of specimens. Instructs patients regarding preparation for various tests and procedures.
  • Oversees prescription refills and new medication as directed by the providers via electronic medical record, phone or fax.
  • Informs patients of test results and/or providers recommendations in person or via phone or mail.
  • Trains new or less experienced medical assistants and nurses.


Qualifications
Education
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Preferred: BSN
Licensure
  • Required: Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Experience
  • Required: A minimum of 5 years triage experience in medical office setting or hospital.
  • Preferred: OB/GYN experience is preferred
