Position Summary: The trusts and estates administrative paralegal is responsible for efficiently managing and producing a high volume of complex work related to estate administration, trust administration, probate, family law, and fiduciary accounting. This role entails working independently on estate administration tasks while collaborating with attorneys as needed. Strong mathematical, organizational, and technological skills are essential, particularly in accounting and tax-related areas. The paralegal must also contribute to a collaborative team environment, mentor and be mentored, and demonstrate empathy and professionalism in client interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, gather, and evaluate assets.
  • Prepare a variety of probate and estate administration documents.
  • Compile accountings for estates and trusts.
  • Complete death tax returns, including federal and state estate tax returns.
  • Prepare federal and state fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Review and interpret wills and trust agreements to execute plans and fund trusts.
  • Manage deadlines using a docket system.
  • Conduct basic research using reference materials.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and paralegal certification (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with Probate Court procedures, taxing authorities, and regulatory agencies preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PDF software, document management software, tax preparation, and accounting software.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to advanced software programs and new technology.
  • Understanding of basic business relationships and client confidentiality principles.
