TITLE: One Process Assistant Director (Bias & Title IX Coordinator)
FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)
DEPARTMENT: Office of Justice, Equity and Inclusion (OJEI)
REPORTS TO: Vice President
STATUS: Full-time (37.50 hours/week)

Serves as the principal institutional official responsible for coordinating, implementing and overseeing compliance with the Title IX. The coordinator's responsibilities include overseeing all complaints of sex discrimination and identifying and addressing any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of such complaints. Additionally, this position is responsible for responded to non-Title XI bias incidents that are reported to the institution.

Title IX Coordinator (40%)

  • Oversees, coordinates and ensures investigations of reports and complaints of sexual misconduct are adequate, reliable, timely, confidential and impartial; reviews proposed sanctions for sexual misconduct before they are imposed to ensure that they are reasonably calculated to stop the sexual misconduct and prevent its recurrence.
  • Selects, trains, and oversees designated Deputy Title IX Coordinators across critical areas of the institution; ensures investigators, adjudicators and those involved with processing Title IX complaints are adequately trained in compliance with Title IX guidance.
  • Identifies systemic problems relating to complaints and determines whether campus-wide resources should be adopted in response, including review and revision of the University's sexual misconduct policies, increased monitoring, supervision or security at locations where sexual misconduct is reported to occur, and increased education and prevention efforts to targeted populations.
  • Collaborates with leadership and campus constituencies to disseminate information, redesign processes, and support the University's investigative processes; collaborates and coordinates with compliance partners within the department and across the institution to support the University's overlapping compliance needs and responsibilities.
  • Communicates with local law enforcement and government agencies to ensure reports are handled appropriately and in a timely manner; coordinates with local victim advocacy organizations and service providers.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with Title IX by collecting and analyzing data, writing comprehensive reports and maintaining records of investigations.
  • Serves on various University planning and policy making committees; recommends and participates in the development of University policies and procedures.
  • Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

Bias Response Coordinator (40%)

  • Review and respond to reports of sexual misconduct, discrimination, or harassment made via an online report portal, email, telephone, or from direct outreach from students, faculty, staff, or third parties; assess reports to identify immediate safety or urgent response needs and triage as needed.
  • Meet individually with participants to obtain additional information, ask clarifying questions, manage expectations, and explore options for possible resolution;
  • Follow up with all relevant parties to gather pertinent background information, and assess the dynamics of the issue and situation;
  • Utilize case management database to organize, manage, and track each phase of the resolution process, including signed resolution agreements. (Maxient, Pharos);
  • Compile, organize, and provide quantitative and qualitative data for internal and external reporting, including for annual report;
  • Participate on the Bias Response Team to help coordinate comprehensive responses to reports of bias and harassment in relation to community level impact of identity-based harm;
  • Develop accessible reports and presentations for a range of stakeholders, including internal and external audiences;
  • Ensure that all parties involved in a case receive appropriate supportive measures and referrals to on and off campus resources to include monitoring for effectiveness and adjusting supportive measures and referrals as needed;
  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date, accessible, and accurate documentation within the case management system, to include all reports, correspondence, notes, referrals, and action items. This includes timely creation, update, and closure of case in the case management system and entry of relevant case notes and documentation for Clery reporting.

Policy Review & Implementation (20%)

  • Review relevant university Title IX and Bias Policies for compliance
  • Participate in development and modification of University policies, practices, and protocols to ensure continued ADA compliance, incorporation of suggested practices, and disability accessibility and inclusion
  • Work with HR to ensure employee policies are in line with federal and state guidelines
  • Work with SSE to ensure university and student policies align
  • Communicate policy and processes to wider campus community
  • Ensure that required employee training is implemented and compliance is tracked.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Required + 2 years of years' experience with DEI & Bias work
  • Title IX Certification and/or Training
  • Ability to investigate and analyze claims information and to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and practices specific to the applicable compliance specialty.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Demonstrated experience with confidentiality
  • Experience working in a university setting

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience with Maxient (required) and Pharos 360 (preferred)
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills
  • Ability to develop and implement new strategies and procedures
  • 504/ADA Knowledge

A background screening is required.
