The Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado is seeking a board certified/board eligible primary care sports medicine physician in the area of Pediatric Sports Medicine.

The University of Colorado Denver is located on a new 2.5 billion dollar campus that combines state of the art medical facilities and basic science research. Our clinical practice is based at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Colorado. Children's Hospital Colorado is a state-of-the-art facility. We are a very busy tertiary referral center with extensive pathology covering the entire spectrum of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery.

This position reports to the Section Chief, and as needed the Chairman of the Department and the Department of Orthopedics Director of Finance and Administration. Supervision will include training and oversight for the position's responsibilities.

Examples of Work Performed

Clinical responsibilities include actively participating in continued growth of the Pediatric Orthopedic and the Sports Medicine Center at Children's Hospital Colorado. The candidate will provide medical services in the outpatient environment. Teaching responsibilities include participating in the education of medical students, pediatric and family medicine residents, and pediatric and family medicine sports medicine fellows. Research responsibilities include actively pursuing, participating in, and publishing research as well as mentoring residents, fellows, and other faculty in research endeavors. Outreach responsibilities include high school and club youth sports coverage and community education of coaches, parents, and athletes on a routine basis.

Leadership responsibilities include working with the respective CHCO Department/Section/Division Chief/ACMD to ensure availability of appointments that are appropriate to the needs of the patient and referring provider. Will have primary responsibility for development of physician scheduling templates. Will direct the efficient management of clinic provider schedules to maximize resources, access, and patient satisfaction. Will have specific oversight of Primary Care Sports Medicine providers. Will develop, implement, and monitor clinical standards of care and will work with Ambulatory Practice/Nursing Directors to develop policies and procedures for optimal clinic operations. Will partner with the ACMD, Ambulatory Practice/Nursing Directors, nursing, and Patient-Family Experience Department to review patient satisfaction scores for the ambulatory clinics and NOC sites, when applicable, and develop and implement strategies for improvement. This role also serves as the Medical Director for the Sports Medicine Center. This role has shared leadership with the surgical medical director and program manager to overall all operations of the program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The applicant must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment. Basic science and/or clinical research skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well. The applicant should have experience/expertise in MSK ultrasound with interest in co-directing an ultrasound program for the department. The applicant should have interest in co-directing the pediatric sports medicine fellowship.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

Assistant Professor: $175,000 – $200,000

Associate Professor: $200,000 - $250,000

Professor: $250,000 - $350,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor
    CAQSM board certified/eligible primary care sports medicine physician with completion of a one-year fellowship in sports medicine.

Associate Professor
    CAQSM board certified/eligible primary care sports medicine physician with completion of a one-year fellowship in sports medicine.

Professor
    CAQSM board certified/eligible primary care sports medicine physician with completion of a one-year fellowship in sports medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

5 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
