Position Overview

This position is a night shift & seasonal position, with potential to become full time permanent based on performance. This position involves the safe and efficient operation of front-end loaders, excavators, and a water truck as needed for business demands. If you're someone that has 1-2 years' experience operating loaders/excavators, enjoys working during a busy season, and can work both independently and as a part of a team, this is the position for you.

Wage: $26.55+/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime

Location: Eugene. May be expected to travel as needed for business demands.

Hours: Primarily work 10-12 hours per day 5 days per week, and up to 6 days per week per week as needed during the busy construction season. During training, hours will be during the day shift. However, upon completion of training, the workday will shift to night work. Must have flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed per business demands.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One to two years Front-end Wheel Loader experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and multiply.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Must obtain a valid drivers' license.
  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
  • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanical skills, basic knowledge of aggregate products a plus.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently by utilizing equipment within its designed parameters.
  • Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Keep machines clean and maintained.
  • Keep time and material records.
  • Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
  • Travel to and from various locations.
  • Assist labor crew including shoveling of materials and daily plant operations.
  • Promptly communicate with paving crew on any flaws in material.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs. Physical abilities test will be required.
