Overview

This role is primarily responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with national suppliers. This rol evaluates and negotiates long-term agreements with manufacturers, distributors and vendors.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops purchasing strategy for each category of responsibility.
  • Implements by category strategy with divisions and is responsible for program adoption.
  • Addresses issues with program implementation and clear road blocks for divisions.
  • Researches potential manufacturers, distributors and vendors and stays on top of industry trends and new market entries.
  • Measures national vendor performance and implements corrective actions.
  • Negotiates national contracts and ensures competitive full cost of ownership through available negotiation levers.
  • Creates and maintains RFP schedule.
  • Acts as the expert for each category of responsibility and supports/coaches divisions with local trade negotiations.
  • Works with National Contracts Coordinator to ensure collection of rebates are accurate.
  • Drives cost savings through value engineering, supply chain management, product mix and other available avenues.
  • Attends trade events on behalf of the company.
  • Spends necessary time in the field with divisions and visiting manufacturers.
Education & Experience

  • 8-10 years selling to single family builders or purchasing in a national role.
  • Experience with BuildPro preferred
Skills & Abilities

  • Strong and proactive communication skills, effectively communicating with leadership and vendors.
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Ability to negotiate with manufacturers, distributors and vendors
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to influence change at all levels of the organization
Physical Requirements

  • Travel to operations and field is expected to be 25-50%
  • Typical office environment.
