Department Information

Our team is responsible for communications and marketing projects that advance the mission and strengthen the brand of the IU College of Arts and Sciences. We focus on College-wide initiatives, including brand development and management, user-focused website development for our departments and programs, and recruitment marketing strategy and products.

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Plans, shoots, edits, and produces high-quality multimedia projects with a strong focus on storytelling.
  • Works collaboratively with supervisor, MarCom office colleagues, and College partners on content development and multi-platform production and delivery, to effectively communicate the College's distinct advantages and unique offerings in support of the institution's goals.
  • Administers social media for the College's platforms, tracking organic social media engagement.
  • Monitors and reports on digital industry trends to advance audience-building strategies.
  • Provides guidance to student, freelancers, or temporary staff.
General Responsibilities
  • Creates a variety of content for multiple media platforms, including radio, television, podcast, and online productions, that aligns with marketing goals and meets production standards and deadlines.
  • Oversees the entire content production cycle: studies topics of content focus, selects relevant literature and performers, conducts interviews, writes scripts, and produces segments.
  • Hosts live and produced on-air and online programming for regular and scheduled programs, ad hoc programs, and on-air and online fund drives.
  • Consults with staff on content development and multi-platform production and delivery.
  • Monitors and reports on digital industry trends to advance audience-building strategies.
  • May manage social media content and activity.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level Multimedia Producers or temporary staff.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast media, journalism, liberal arts, music, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years in related field

  • Experience with digital editing packages such as Motion, After Effects, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, and Lightworks
  • Excellent technical knowledge of video and photographic equipment including video and still cameras, editing software, associated hardware, and computers
  • Experience with photography principles and photo editing software packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Pixlr, and Affinity Photo
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
