Responsibilities

WellStar Kennestone Hospital has an opportunity for a Medical Lab Technologist.

Full-Time Evening Shift Monday -Friday (with weekend rotation) 2:30pm - 11:00pm

The Medical Technologist is under the general supervision of the Supervisors, Manager or Director; performs clinical laboratory testing pursuant to established and approved protocols requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, maintains equipment and records, performs quality assurance activities related to test performance and may supervise and teach within the laboratory setting.

Accuracy: Maintains acceptable accuracy in-patient, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency testing.• Critical Thinking: Uses clinical/ theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret, and report lab data.• Job Knowledge: Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures.• Productivity: Practices organizational skills for efficiency of time, materials, cost, and availability of lab data• Communication: Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution, and hand-off to team members.Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Associates degree or meet qualifications as defined by CLIA and the State of Georgia for a laboratory technician.

Required Minimum Certification: MLT or equivalent from an accrediting agency approved by Georgia Department of Community Health. (ASPC, NCA, AMT, AAB or another agency approved by the Georgia Department of Community Health) AAB certified individuals must have completed a formalized training program that includes clinical rotations or have three years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a hospital laboratory. For persons who possess the technician qualifications and have recently moved into the state or completed the academic and/or training requirements, they may be temporarily classified once as technicians for eighteen (18) months to afford them anopportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination.

Required Minimum Experience: One year of Laboratory experience preferred.
