As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring efficient patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

Clinical Duties:

  • Perform all tasks in compliance with clinical, OSHA, and infection control standards.
  • Interpret and execute provider orders.
  • Assist physicians and associate practitioners during procedures and treatments.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, record vital signs (including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature), and document findings in the patient's chart.
  • Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaints.
  • Provide patient instructions as directed by the physician or associate practitioner.
  • Document patient-related communication and interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Update the patient's Health Monitor during each visit.
  • Work with GAP reports and recall lists for clinical quality measures.
  • Utilize CINA sheets.
  • Prepare and administer medications using aseptic techniques.
  • Observe patient responses to medications and report adverse events to the provider.
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection following Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines.
  • Maintain lab specimen logs.
  • Coordinate outpatient testing and referrals, including hospital pre-admission when necessary.
  • Scan referral letters, x-ray reports, and lab results into the patient's EMR per clinic protocol.
  • Maintain logs and perform required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, equipment sterilization).


Administrative Duties:

  • Handle telephone and email messages, as well as medication refill requests from patients.
  • Provide feedback and answers to patients, physicians, and pharmacies following physician protocols.
  • Collect and process data and messages between patients and the front office staff and physicians.
  • Adhere to infection control policies, medication administration procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Represent the clinic professionally and treat patients and colleagues courteously.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA requirements.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in team activities and professional development.
  • Maintain continuing education units (CEUs) as required by the state certification board.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the office supervisor, site manager, or practice administrator.

Qualifications:
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) certification (or willingness to obtain within 180 days).
  • Active CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to specific diseases (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of hands-on clinical experience working with a licensed physician or provider.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy skills.
  • 1+ years of experience administering injections.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).
