Our Corporate Marketing team has an immediate, remote opening for a Product Manager who is ready to take their career to the next level. As a Product Manager at Comar you will be a critical member of the team bringing new products to market, continuously improving our processes, and ensuring the highest quality standards are met in support of our customers and the patient or end user of our products. What you will do:

New Product Development and Commercialization

  • Use internal transaction data and primary and secondary market research and feedback from customers, distributors, sales, and business management to identify market trends and opportunities. Travel to tradeshows and customer sites.
  • Identify new packaging or dispensing products or product line extensions to commercialize or investigate over a 1-3-5-year period using voice of the customer (VOC) to define critical product features, functions, and benefits.
  • Build a new product roadmap to support Corporate Product Sustainability goals for 2025/2030.
  • Craft business case(s) to support mold and/or machinery investments needed and promote internally for support.
  • Work with the Engineering Product Development (EPD) team to develop all products on schedule and within budget, working to a critical path.
  • Ensure products are within optimal price margins and up to specifications through each commercialization stage from design, through development, to production.
  • Plan the market launch of new products and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan, including product messaging, training and content creation for campaigns and sales & distribution enablement.
  • Own local changes and setup to the sample program in support of new product launches.
  • Organize and lead product launch retrospective meetings on a quarterly frequency, including all New Product Developments (NPDs) for up to one year post launch. Make recommendations to modify placement, price, or promotion based on performance relative to plan.
  • Lead market trends portion of Design and Development team's quarterly portfolio meeting.
  • Prioritize development work and backlog of La Mirada Plant mold shop.

Product Portfolio Management
  • Leverage insights gained through transactional data, voice of customer, competitive analysis into a 3–5-year product portfolio strategy.
  • Establish growth and profitability expectations for product line categories. Implement price/place/promotion strategies to achieve desired goals and objectives.
  • Monitor product line performance trends and progress vs. goals pricing, volume, cost/margin, demand forecast and capacity.
  • Institutionalize strategic pricing activities to optimize monthly, quarterly, annual margin performance. Monitor business performance and take actions to achieve targets.
  • Establish market-based buy-sell price lists and discounts based on market and competitive inputs.
  • Offer price/capex estimates based on budgetary inquiries.
  • Engage in new Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) addition and deletion to link to sales enablement collateral and website.
  • Use feedback from markets and customers on product features, functions and benefits to identify, prioritize and launch modifications to the product or the way in which it is manufactured (e.g., Quality, Sustainability, Cost) to improve customer satisfaction, revenue, profit, and retention.
  • Determine candidates for Stock vs Made to Order (MTO) programs. Establish and maintain sample programs for all sites producing Stock and MTO products.
  • Determine Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) for Stock and MTO products and collaborate with Distribution Leader on preferred partners to recommend.
  • Steer discussions with Operations and Supply Chain to maximize mold asset utilization and reliability.
  • Drive tactical portfolio decisions for multi-product assets. Implement make-vs-buy decisions when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with sales account managers and leadership on bottom-up annual sales plan.
  • Participate on sales calls as technical product expert and build relationships with the technical counterparts at the customer’s organization.

Product End-of-Life / Rationalization
  • Identify when mature products are in decline and determine whether to pivot, resurrect current offering, or phase out.
  • Create action plan for products in decline to optimize margin and working capital.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing and 7 years of experience in product management.

Preferred:
  • Master of Business Administration.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in new business development and Business to Business (B2B) marketing.
  • Previous experience in the rigid plastic packaging industry.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
