Job Summary

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is a hands-on, high-performing individual who participates as a team member in establishing processes for manufacturing medical devices through development and optimization of manufacturing processes and Equipment utilization. This individual is expected to use a broad range of medical device manufacturing troubleshooting skills and experience, as well as depth of knowledge with assembly processes, equipment and tooling along with maintenance procedures.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers and associates, identify and troubleshoot process, material or equipment problems to minimize down time.
  • Provide instructional training to production personnel on equipment and processes using proper documentation.
  • Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes providing PM and Equipment improvements.
  • Inspect and disposition production products per required procedures.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment and make appropriate adjustments to improve throughput and yield.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers, Project Managers, Production Supervisor and Leads to develop and implement ATOMS and PM standards for all equipment.
  • Assist with Lean principles implementation (flow, standard work and 6S, ATOM and PM).
  • Prepare and process Quality parts through processes to achieve throughput and yield targets.
  • Perform critical procedures which requires high-level attention to detail as needed.
  • Collect data and perform basic maintenance and develop PM standards to support reduction in scrap reduction goals.
  • Review and update manufacturing documentation (processes and travelers) to reflect best practice techniques and optimize ease of use for assemblers.
  • Independently monitor and maintain equipment to recommended operating standards of equipment. Work with Production Supervisor and Leads to correct low performing work stations.
  • Maintain proficiency performing all operations for specified manufacturing processes.
  • Carry out routine and unscheduled services of equipment as part of measures to prevent breakdowns and malfucnctions which could deter production activities. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments documenting remedy or action required.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • 2-4 years catheters manufacturing/clean room production environment required
  • Knowledgeable or desire to learn PLC, basic electrical systems/mechanical troubleshooting

Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with extrusion and injection molding Preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude, strong problem solving, and troubleshooting ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints
  • Self-driven, ability to work independently
  • Multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Manufacturing process knowledge
  • Basic understanding of Lean Principles
