The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts DistributionofCat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurementand thedesign andmanufactureof Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical expertise necessary to design all aspects of production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements for manufacturing.

• This position is located in Sumter, SC and may provide domestic relocation
• 10% or less travel expected with this role

What You Will Do

• Identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to complex manufacturing operations equipment and processes
• Monitoring sophisticated equipment and process reliability; identifying and addressing problem areas
• Providing direct supervision, coaching and development for operations technical staff and support areas
• Leading engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities

What You Have

• Judgment and Decision Making : Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
• Manufacturing Safety : Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
• Lean Manufacturing : Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
• Manufacturing Processes : Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
• Manufacturing Equipment : Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Lean experience within a manufacturing environment; Project Management experience including leading cross-functional teams
• Experience leading automation or robotic integration projects on machinery
• Experience managing capital budgets for on-time spend
