Kohler Consumer Channels is an independent business unit and strategic driver for the continued growth of Kohler Company, a global enterprise. The Consumer Channels division consists of direct-to-consumer businesses that include, Kohler Signature Stores and Kohler Experience Centers, and Dealer-Direct (Kohler Walk-In Bath and Kohler Showers). Additional teams within the division include Customer Service, Digital Experience & Capabilities, eCommerce Operations, Consumer Marketing, and Merchandising. Each of these teams will serve as partners to this role.

Under limited supervision and reporting to the Director / Head of Stores, the Manager - Operations, Kohler Stores is responsible for business model development, growth, and execution for our North American portfolio of Kohler Signature Stores and Kohler Experience Centers. This leader will define how we evolve our KSS/KEC businesses to be the best customer and trade business in our industry and beyond, piloting new formats and services in addition to optimizing existing operations. This role will oversee store operations, which includes store programs, visual merchandising, distributor relationships & management, marketing & advertising activities, process & systems management, forecasting, reporting & financial performance, and inventory allocation. Additionally, this role will work in close partnership with distributors and regional sales managers to ensure that store needs are appropriately met. 

Primary Objectives

  • In partnership with leadership, update and implement store strategy.
  • Define and support execution of our next generation of customer experience.
  • Create/update, effectively communicate, and support Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Define, deliver, and manage analytics and KPIs that support the ongoing operations and growth of stores.
  • Provide the tools to measure established KPIs to facilitate management decisions.
  • Manage operational expense budget, identifying and managing key drivers for the business.
  • Work with KSSs/KECs to ensure.
  • Define training strategy to support sales, margin, and customer satisfaction goals, ensuring execution of the strategy.
  • Identify and build out innovative store program pilots for services, education, visual representation, etc.
  • Oversee the continuous improvement of store programs and processes.
  • Serve as a key leader with dealers and/or distributors to ensure store and relationship needs are met.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure development of programs are in place to grow skills and bench strength of existing Kohler Stores.
  • Develop methodology for business analytics and key performance business indicators.
  • Direct and drive improvement in the back-end operational activities that drive sales and associate engagement, including the following programs:
    • BOLD Rewards systems platform and other training materials
    • Secret shops and other source metrics
    • Seasonal display offers and installations
    • Merchandising website for a la carte display orders
    • Ongoing maintenance of stores and displayed product inventories
    • Literature fulfillment and other sales tools
    • Investment incentives and other financial tools
    • Display fixture development
    • Visual implementation
  • Manage associated budgets of the aforementioned programs and systems.
  • Direct the implementation of systems that include the POS system, inventory maintenance data base and others with distribution, third party vendor, and Corporate IT.
  • Oversee the POS roll-out including the development of an operations manual and reporting tied to the key business indicators.
  • Benchmark best-in-class retailers to implement digital tools for the purposes of assisting the conversion to purchase such as the Store Navigator, and others.
  • In collaboration with Kohler Communications and Digital Marketing drive the omni-channel experience in brick & mortar stores.
  • Provide budget analysis for the Kohler Signature Stores & Experience Centers and help implement annual and long-term marketing programs.
  • Drive growth and positioning of Kohler and other Kohler brands in Kohler Signatures Stores & Experience Centers.
  • Partner with Visual Merchandiser to establish and update the visual experience for Kohler Signature Stores & Experience Centers.
  • Oversee the services rendered by Stores including design services and the preferred installer program.
  • Monitor the success, impact, and contribution of all programs, and communicate this information to management on a timely basis.
  • Partner with Market Research to perform trend research, provide analysis of sales records, determine market potential, identify consumer needs, etc.
  • Ensure standard operational procedures are maintained and appended based on new or altered processes.


  • Bachelor's degree in business marketing or related field.
  • 8 years operations experience in a retail company with progressively more responsibility and a proven track record of successful results.
  • 1 year of P&L, strategic planning and/or budgeting experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, think creatively, innovate and plan with attention to detail and accuracy.
  •  Travel: expected travel mayreach 20-25%.
